how is a show about comedians so fucking unfunny and preachy?

the previews looked fucking awful. just a bunch of sad C List losers surrounding Melissa Leo who gets top billing and a fat paycheck. who would honestly want to watch this? I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts a few seasons though because Showtime is horrible.

I just looked at the cast because I am bored and the very idea of this show is making me mad. I thought maybe they hired some actual stand-ups to play the stand-ups. People who know how to be comedic and offensive.

here are the plot threads i've picked up from two episodes
an unfunny black comic arrives in town, gets paid to jerk off in front of a bed ridden priest, then sabotages a ventriloquists act because the guy made fun of blacks

a comedy club owner never pays anyone and they're all struggling to make ends meet while she black balls anyone that performs in a competing club, and she keeps trying to come off as a deeper character with complex motivations, but is really just a jewish stereotype

occasionally, faux comedians like jim carry show up and remind us why they haven't done comedy in 20 years
