This was a great movie but I know later ones aren't directed

Aliens is alright but takes it in a completely direction direction. 3 is really dark which a lot of people hated. And Resurrection should never be watched.

Aliens definitely, I was initially disappointed because it was so different than the alien atmosphere and tone. But after watching the other sequels and prequels I've grown to like it a lot more. Even though the plot is a rehash changing the genre makes it fresh and stand on its own.
Alien 3 is overall shit, starts off decent then just becomes a blander 90sedge rehash of alien 1. Assembly Cut is mediocre I guess.
Alien 4 is pretty stupid and campy but if you like schlocky movies its pretty fun with a couple neat gore scenes
Skip AVP
Covenant and more so Prometheus actually capture the atmosphere more than any of the sequels, theyre just overall dumb

Aliens absolutely not, unless you like action movies, there's no story and the thriller/drama is left behind

Alien 3 is better than Aliens, but it's nothing close to Alien

Watch all of them. They decrease in quality OVERALL as a function of time (until Ridley came back), but they ALL have some very good parts. Even Alien Resurrection. You can skip the AvP movies though.

Definitely watch the sequel, Aliens. It was directed by the same director of Terminator 1 and 2, and Avatar.
