This movie is garbage because it's about paranoia and fear of the unknown and thus left purposely open (Google your question you'll read the same words from the director), supposedly the boy opened the door and interacted with the sick dog, but he is too short to pull the locks and did not have the key anyway

As a horror movie it is, as always, the story of several idiots who die violently when they should of realized they were going to die horribly very soon anyway due to unforseeable circumstances brought about by a universe that hates them

Great cinematography, sound and light design imo, it was so compressing and claustrophobic I just wanted to stand and stretch, the door was wonderfully respected and dreadful as it should be being the rational fear of known terrible unknowns
