One theory is that Jews where excuded from many jobs for centuries in various countries.

They could be in finance and print/media as these where seen as unworthy for the upper classes during the early modern period.

So centuries of this in their cultural pysche enabled them to excel as we see now.

They were the first ones that realized cinema was going to be a big source of entertainment.

So they pretty much saw movies potential as entertainment , after french businessmen discarded Lumiere films as a silly fad that nobody would care about in a year
