So what motivates James Bond to work for MI6? Is it out of duty to his country? To protect innocent people? Because he gets pussy in all of his assignments? Is he just a thrillseeker with a license to kill? Were his parents killed by terrorist/communists/evil geniuses after watching a production of CATS the musical?
Do you think each era of James Bond had different a motivation?
It's interesting that James Bond films rarely delve into what makes James Bond tick. Sure there's moments where the antagonist uses his conscious against him by taking hostages but generally Bonds come in only two states: Suave and slightly irritated. We just know him as an international man of mystery and part of that mystery is never having a psychological examination. We just take him at face value.
So what drives him to continue to be on her majesty's secret service?

Other than a license to kill.
A high life full of sex, booze and gambling on the job.

>drive exotic cars
>travel the world
>fuck no less than 2 beautiful women each mission
>get to kill everyone who gets in your way
>save the world every adventure
why the hell would you quit that job?
>craig
>bond
in nearly every version/actor of him it usually comes down to Queen and Country above all else
except for License to Kill, that was just pure revenge on behalf of his husbando Felix
For queen and country.
Obviously.
The character has no motivation, he is a cardboard two dimensional character that spergs "muh queen" every now and then. James Bond is just propaganda, it's just there to create a caricature of the rest of the world with evil asians, russians, muslims and latinos to make it a little bit easier for englishmen and to some extent americans to not worry so much when their countries invade those places, because they are just made of disposable henchmen working for cruel lifeless monsters.

Well in the Fleming novels it seems to allude that he just fell into the job. He had no burning desire to fight for Queen & country it was just something he was GOOD at pursued it.
