With the CIA role it was easy to blame his performance on the shitty script and non-existent directing that happened with every actor in that movie and you can definitely tell that his performance went to shit when the GoT dudes stopped caring about their actors, so I always figured he was actually an alright actor stuck with shitty directors. Then I watched Calvary and realised he's just crap. I don't even know what he was trying to do there. It was odd because he was obviously one of the bigger names but he was out-acted by literally everyone else in the movie, even the ones with three lines. Hell, the dog did a better job.

This. He was ridiculous in Calvary as if he was trying to parody himself or something like this. In retrospect, even his acting in earlier GoT seasons was pretty silly.
