How could anyone not like DS9?
>>84018280
If there's one thing that i don't miss from TNG it's Data. Also fuck La Forge and his "..wait a minute TACHIONS CAPTAIN."
>these faggots ranking TOS so low
>There will never be an alternate DS9 where Dukat continues to be "neutral" of sorts and doesn't go full evil and join the Dominion leading to the shitty full insanity storyline.
>>84018346
That's not the issue here.
VOY ranking is the issue.
>>84018346
TOS has a lot of great episodes, but more terrible episodes than any other series too. "Wildly inconsistent" would be a kind description.

Who was in the wrong?
>>84019018
>Tuvix is an abomination that deserves to die
>But thinking this means I have to admit that Janeway was right about something
>>84019018
According to Janeway in the episode "Phage", the person in the wrong was Janeway.
>Janeway confronts the aliens who stole Neelix's lungs
>JANEWAY: So now I am left with the same choice you made. Whether to commit murder to save a life, or to allow my own crewman to die while you breath air through his lungs.
>MOTURA: It must be impossible for you to understand how any civilised people could come to this. Before the phage began, we were known as educators and explorers, a people whose greatest achievements were artistic. I myself am a sculptor of note on my world. All I can say is that when your entire existence is at stake--
>DERETH: You don't have to explain yourself, Motura.
>MOTURA: If the consequence of this act is a death sentence, so be it. At least it will put an end to my suffering.
>JANEWAY: I can't begin to understand what your people have gone through. They may have found a way to ignore the moral implications of what you are doing, but I have no such luxury. I don't have the freedom to kill you to save another. My culture finds that to be a reprehensible and entirely unacceptable act.
Why was Picard always such a weak, impotent faggot?
>>84019018
Needed to find a way to bring back Tuvok back but kill Neelix
So they were both wrong
>>84019059
This is why SPACE PROPHET was the GOAT captain.
Deep Space 9 isn't really Star Trek. It was Paramount's desperate attempt to beat Babylon 5 to the market.
Sisko is a lame house negro who gets stuck on a shit hole slave station in the middle of nowhere because he wasn't fit to be a true captain
>Picard aged like a fine wine
>Sisko and Archer aged like a good whiskey
>Janeway aged like Crystal Pepsi
>Kirk aged like milk
Neelix is the Jar Jar Binks of the Trek universe.

Season 3 of Enterprise is better than all, but DS9 is the best. Voyager is surprisingly way better than one would think. Blink of an Eye is a God-Tier episode of TV.

She wanted Riker's job and she was very unimpressed by his lack of ambition... which was right, considering how Riker accepted (probably demanded!) a demotion just to stay on the Enterprise after TBOBW.

yes you are Jadzia already went that route, fucking slut
Just a few hours ago I decided I wanted to buy one of those USS Defiant stainless steel coffee mugs, with all of the shit you can find on the internet I figured I'd be able to find one for sure.
Turns out no such thing exists, and my research took me to a thread on some movie/TV prop forum from 2006 full of broken links where people were discussing how to make one. It looks like even the model of thermos they used isn't available anywhere online. All of the links I found redirected to the same old amazon.com listing that isn't being stocked anymore.
I'm fucking shocked, with the infinite universe of online shopping I figured surely there'd be some kind of decent replica. One of the most disappointing things that's happened to me all year.

He recognised the Cardy threat before it manifested, if Picard had listened to him then they would have been in no position to compromise the security of the Alpha Quadrant by housing the Dominion. If he had done this through proper procedure the way Picard asked him for he could have had his wish. If he hadn't gone all "Cowboy Diplomacy" and "Wounded War Veteran" he would have been vindicated. Atleast his actions exposed the ships were using dampening fields for "scientific research." And we all know that in ST "Scientific Research" is the same as "making art and cinema in your country" for the CIA today. He was atleast able to get Star Trek to quit seeing them as allies and start paying attention to them once again.
>>Jellico
He literally did nothing wrong. Riker was way out of line. I'll give Riker the benefit of the doubt that he was on purposely poorly written that way just to make a scene more interesting. But a real commanding officer would know Picard getting caught was just part of the job and Jellico was fully justified in not compromising his position just to save him. Really demanding, sometimes making unrealistic demands just to push people around. Telling Troi to finally put on a proper uniform was his best decision ever. Who the hell does she think she is walking around on a military vessel dressed like a prom queen? Picard was too lenient. The only people who enjoyed serving him were Data and Worf. Would make Kurn proud.
>>Pressman
Absolutely did nothing wrong. You're only supposed to just sign the treaty but secretly not go through with it. They could have just played semantics with the Treaty and claim they didn't have "cloaking" technology but instead have "phasing" technology. Cloaking isn't the only way to turn invisible and become undetectable.
All three of them could have prevented the entire Dominion.

Just dropping in for a quick reminder.
>/tv/ is a DS9 board, and more specifically, a Gul Dukat board. Please always keep that in mind and carry on
>>84024299
I was going to post more but I ran out of room. Cardassia joins the Dominion because it is weak. However, WHY it is weak is what lead them to joining the Dominion in desperation. Unfortunately, Gul Dukat's decision for joining the Dominion wasn't completely selfish. It was The Klingons that declared war on Cardassia. While Cardassia was dealing with the Klingons, the Obsidian order and the Tal Shi'ar ignore helping them to just go give the Founders a deathblow. It was the Obsidian Order and the Tal Shi'ar that kept the Klingons' bloodlust for conquest in check along with the Federation Treaty. Without the Obsidian Order, the State fell to civil war between the Military and the Central Command. Without the Obsidian Order, the Central command the Military could not hold order on Cardassia nor hold back the Klingons on their own. So they joined the Dominion and gave the Dominion a foot in the door to the Alpha Quadrant.

>Odo for not helping the Alpha Quadrant kill his own people
>Picard for being a Canadian Prime Minister and refused to kill everyone because if he killed them the enemy would win
>Klingons, specifically Galron who wanted to make a name for himself in conquest. Who pushed the Cardassians into the arms of the Dominion.
>Enabrin Tain for being arrogant thinking he could outsmart a bunch of shape shifters and didn't give any of the Romulans and other Cardassians blood test.
>Quark for not charging high interest on supplies for orphans.

>Wesley for not using his quantum powers to turn back time and kill the Dominion.

I will give credit where credit is due, I will watch TOS any day of the week, but you have to understand some of the criticisms and why some fools avoid it. There are many good episodes, but most of them I would not consider excellent television:

>Another planet full of humans back in time episode
>Charlie X

Gee I wonder why.
I don't want Discovery to be bound to whatever happens in the future otherwise it's going to stop a lot of possible storylines. I'd rather they start their own timeline.

>>84021519
I've been thinking about this for a while now, and your right everyone else does have weak points, but its only these 3 that would have been better off not showing up at all, only thing is neelix was a good idea ruined by casting, look, everything, but you can see something decent being created in ep 1 of voy with all the characters, it just immediately goes to utter shit
>>84029318

I think Sisko needed Jake as motivation, without him I bet Sisko would have an heroed within a few years of Wolf 359.

Can someone please post the pics of the episode rankings for TNG and others if you have them. About which episodes are better than others ect

>keiko

From good to bad:
DS9
TNG
TOS movies
Voyager
TNG movies
TOS
Enterprise
Reboot movies
I had high hopes for Discovery, but it'll probably just be another Enterprise with even less of a Star Trek feeling. They need to make an anthology series that takes place after DS9/Voyager.
>>84029639

Which one? They all did nothing wrong.
>>84029677
the hollywood climate has changed so much there will never be a good series again, they're just going to capitalize on the nostalgia factor instead of not taking a complete fucking dump on the canon anymore, when was the last time you saw anything worth watching on daytime tv

I enjoyed the episode where he went full coward and let bashir get hit by a mortar, watched a soldier bleed out and kill 2 klingons by rocking the cunts, and suffers from PTSD the rest of his life.
>>84029887
She only got the roles because she was fucking Roddenberry
>>84030380
So? From what we know, that applies to half the women in TOS at least. And the fact that after he died they kept using her in both TNG and introduced her into DS9 proves that it wasn't only him that kept her there.
>>84029615
How about you just post what i want friend?
What a cosy episode, what was Riker going to say about Ro Laren? I think I'm falling in love with her

Alright, I packed together my ideal of what a new Star Trek show should be like that would actually sell (pic related). Mix the overarching story with conflict of the week / monster of the week episodes for normies to enjoy and you're gold. Tell me why I'm not completely right.
I don't know what version of the C I like better. This original concept one, or the one we got on the screen.
>>84031255
Pretty good idea anon, certainly way better then what were gonna get.
>>84031335
The Probert concept is better, it brudges the Excelsior & Galaxy classes better. The Sternbach version looks like a step on from the Constitution refit.
>>84031255
>Panders to black women

You can see it in this chart Probert made.

>You will never see Laren's last stand with The Maquis
I get that they were the enemy, but they really should have done something more with them in DS9 to make them more sympathetic seeing as Voyager failed to make them any different from Starfleet in 99% of episodes.
>>84031660
The Maquis were really annoying because god damn you've lived there like 20 years, just fuck off to one of the other fifty planets not on the border with a fascist empire that you could live on
"Commander, tell me about your sexual organs."
>>84031570
Thats how I feel as well. I really like the Sternback version, but it really does look like a ship from the TMP era, where the Probert concept looks more like a step between the Excelsior and Galaxy.
>>84031776
Would you give up your family farm of 20 years to live in government assisted housing, which they may give away to another alien race in another 20 years?
>>84031909
Everyone lives in government housing, there's no money in the Federation. And if my choices were move or live under Spoonhead fucking shits, it wouldn't take me 5 seconds to make my decision.
>>84022330
Not particularly.
>>84031954
The treaty said that they'd leave each other alone, the problems didn't start until the Spoonheads started trying to murder the Federation colonists and Starfleet shrugged its shoulders, but as soon as they started defending themselves, Starfleet joined the hunt.
The Federation are evil and will throw infinite lives into the meat grinder on the off chance it might mean peace with evil aliens.
>>84018639
Logistics officer Gowron here. It seems Starfleet command has only provided us with enough room to fit half the crew. So I had them armed with maces, swords, pikes and flails in an all out fight to the death over sleeping quarters, and am pleased to say 45% have survived. Crisis averted

He would have had at least 5 little mutts running around by the end of DS9 if this was the case.

Did they ever repair the friendship after "Hard Time" where he snapped at him and threatened to hurt him?
They sure made up in the end but I'm watching the show through right now and they never seem to do anything friendly anymore since hard time.
No darts, no holosuite, no nothing
Bashir seems friendlier with Garak than Obrien
watching ds9 now.
just watched season 6 episode 1. Obviously actual war breaking out shakes things up, but the show feels somewhat different now. Looser
>>84032786
Season 6 always did feel a bit odd for me, I think there are so many "Dominion War" story episodes they tried to please the networks by having all the standalone episodes be completely unrelated to anything, as if they could just cut out all the story episodes to have a set of 100 "broadcast in any order forever" ones.

He does speak really weird and enunciates his lines on DEC really oddly, like here >>84032494
>>84033253
>DEC
What's that? And he's crazier in The Captains than he is on DS9, so I doubt it's an act. Also, he's some kind of Black Panther We Wuz Kangz professor at a university.
>>84033346
On DS9*
Sorry, I'm half asleep
>>84033346
> Black Panther We Wuz Kangz professor
That makes perfect sense given how he styles himself in the later seasons with the bald head and goatee
>>84033664
That's how he usually presents himself, but the producers didn't like it and forced him to shave his beard and grow out his hair for the pilot, he transitions backed into his own look when his job was secure enough that they couldn't fire him for it or forced him not to.
>>84033713
The hair always looked kind of off to me
Too fuzzy.
But he should have held off on shaving it off until he got promoted to captain in show
New rank
New style
New ship
>>84028445
I hate shit like this.
>>84033832
I suspect he didn't want to do it all at once, the beard appeared in 3x22 Explorers (aka the one with the wooden space ship), then he shaved off his hair in the first episode after he was promoted to Captain (4x01 War of the Warrior Part 1).
I agree that it would have been better if he shaved before The Adversary though, which was basically Die Hard on The Defiant.
>>84018045
the message of DS9 is not to have faith in the future and that people with money and connections will always get away with everything

>>84033832
>But he should have held off on shaving it off until he got promoted to captain in show
He did.
He grew the goatee shortly before the promotion to captain, though.
