ITT: Scariest or most unsettling movies you have ever seen.
Saw 1
>>84013243
>>84013332
I actually kind of agree with this. The whole movies essentially takes place in one freaking room. A very good original piece that was over done
>>84013495
What the fuck is that
>>84013243
Scariest
>Paranormal Activity (yes, the first one really got to me)
Most unsettling
>Threads
>Fail-Safe

>The Vanishing
Movie's ending was spoiled by a friend. Is it still worth a watch?
>>84013622
1993 or 1988 version? (spoorloos)
Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. The lady who gets cursed.
That bit near the end when she looks into the mirror still scares me to this day not gonna lie.
>tfw too scared to even post the pic
>>84013639
yeah it's a great character study nonetheless, similar physchological thriller vibe like in zodiac just more raw and impactful (atleast for me)
>>84013682
1988
>>84013622
The vanishing is absolute garbage and if you don't see what's happening a mile ahead you are retarded
>>84013791
fucking this.
beyond belief truly fucked me up as a child multiple times, so many sleepless nights full of fear...
>the grandmother who is revealed to be the red-eyed monster that terrorizes the children at night
>the farmer dad who sacrifices himself at night to save the family farm
>the kid who just fucking disappears inside a closet while playing hide and seek
>
Why don't Japanese make good movies anymore especially the horror kind? It's a shame.
>>84013243
This movie honestly changed the way I look at black people. I'm not even trying to troll
not really scary but unsettling.
>>84014728
>the farmer dad who sacrifices himself at night to save the family farm
>the kid who just fucking disappears inside a closet while playing hide and seek
Are you me bro?
Was the family farm one with the scarecrow in the field and there was like thunder storm or something?
>>84014822
Where do you go after making the most frightening movie ever made?
>that soundtrack
>>84013791
What ep?
>>84016037
Man, that episode fucked me up so bad as a kid.
Also the one where the kid is afraid of a "monster" in his closet and his brother and a bunch of neighbourhood kids lock him in and when he mom comes to let him out he totally disappeared.
>>84015858
he made a pretty eerie film in the same
style which is incredibly spooky but the last minute or so is so horrendously comedic in its graphics it ruins the whole thing

well what do you think is scary you fucking faggot
Possession was the most unsettling movie I've seen recently. The miscarriage scene, the hysteria of their divorce, going into her apartment, that shit dug into my soul.
>>84016037
>>84016097
fuuuck which ep was that? how did it go? this was the show beyond fact or fiction?
>>84013243

Sinister is pretty spooky

This movie almost made me piss myself
>>84016037
what's this from?
t. non-american
>>84016105
I like the ending in a way. The new Twin Peaks sort of reminds me of it.
Oculus. Specifically the stuff that happens in the flashbacks, like how it drives the mom insane and paranoid
>>84013243
Probably the only time I didn't want to see how the twist played out even though I knew it was coming.
>>84017506
A tv show called Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction
Every episode was basically a collection of weird short stories, and then at the end of the episode the host of the show reveals which stories were actually true.
>>84018556
How the fuck do you write a whole movie that's just about a plot twist
>>84013622
>The Vanishing
I just finished this. It was okay but I dont really see what the hype on /tv/ is about? It was a good thriller but not amazing
>>84018646
>>84016037
I remember watching this on tv alone in my basement as a kid. That face made my heart jump harder than it ever had before.
Sleepaway Camp
Unbeatable
>>84013243
Shutter, the asian one.
If you havent seen it, you should.
Also watch it blind, you dont want to spoil much of the storyline. Movie is ruined if you read too much
Not movies but x-files' Home because the ending and Roland because of the retards love.
I haven't seen it but there is a black and white movie about some dude that has a monster baby and in the ends he kills it out of compassion. James mentioned it in one of his videos.
The Sentinel fucked me up as a kid.
>>84016037
WTF is this thing? I mean I know the episode. I know the picture the moment he said it and I also have it somewhere but to this very day I don't get it. What exactly is this supposed to be and WHY?
>>84018647
>How the fuck do you write a whole movie that's just about a plot twist

Go ahead, look it up.
The basement scene from Zodiac.
Fucking nerve racking

Those first 20 minutes, man.
>>84015932
I really liked that movie but the soundtrack is so intrusive.Maybe the version I watched was just mixed bad but there were scenes where I couldnt hear what was being said because the music was so load
>>84016137
Occult
>>84019119
this was far scary than the scene that gets memed around in here for sure
Actually was fucking scared a bit
>>84013243
not the entire movie but This scene.
>>84016794
this shit fucked me up
i have an irrational fear of aliens and my friend made me watch it
that fucking scene with the lanklet alien lurking over that boys bed killed me
>>84013243
Any movies involving ghosts, creepy children or both are absolute shit. Honestly, how can crap like that scare anyone?
>>84019581
This
Everyone knows that aliens are true patrician tier
>>84019535
But the whole movie is annoying and unsettling as fuck to watch (not complaining, I think that's the point).
I'll take that this scene left my mouth with a taste of dirty water, shampoo and cold tomato sauce.
Ive never seen Signs, but ive seen the "reveal" scene at the birthday party
Is it worth watching?
>>84013243
Pulse left me feeling so lonely
>>84019101
When I heard about this movie I thought there was no way it could actually be THAT scary.
I was wrong.
>>84016037
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXQvpgO-ghw
>>84019681
Everything about the movie is good and extremely unsettling up until the very last scene, so yeah its worth the watch id say
>>84019681
If you liked that clip and enjoy old shamalamadingdong movies give it a go
>>84019852
>>84019101
downloading it blind now
quick summary looked like a good premise for a film
>>84019538
FUCK ME, SAME
Honestly is it that much of an irrational fear though? At any moment in time the exact things that happened in that movie could happen in real life, that movie felt so REAL, its the realistic stuff that gets you the most. Aliens with out a doubt exist and we dont have any way of stopping them from attacking (if they are advanced enough to get to us, and are hostile)
>>84018556
This and Sleep Tight and The Hunt for unsettling. I don't know about scary, but Dark Skies was alright.
>>84019752
Yep. I felt depressed for a couple days afterward. Death is an empty void. It's impossible to understand anyone, truly, but yourself. It's all futile, really, and we should just disappear into ash.
I'd honestly call it one of the most nihilistic, crushing movies I've ever seen.
Check out Cure, anon. It's by the same director, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, and is basically him channeling Hitchcock.
>>84020008
I'm a fan
I'm glad Pulse is getting a real BluRay release after the disaster that was the DVD release
The movie Black Sheep out of New Zealand. After that, I could never fuck sheep again.
>>84015858
He tried doing another found footage movie, in fact I think he only does that now, anyway he did one with worm holes that had Kiyoshi Kurosawa cameo and it ended on the worst greenscreen scene I've ever seen.
>>84015858
I still don't get how this was scary in any way.
>>84020453
AAAAGGGGHHH! Shit! Not that face!

paranormal got me too. Not that i thought any of it was real obviously. But the thing that mainly scared me was watching someone sleeping, like when your are at your most vulnerable, and having freakyshit happen like someone standing over your bed for hours watching you and then killing you. Just the combination of that, and having it all made to look real just creeped me out

This and Threads could be viewed together as a double feature to fuck up your perception of existence.
The people in Come and See probably thought the world was ending, and that it couldn't get any worse than it was. But then you get a glimpse of the actual end with Threads and human suffering is amplified to an amount never before seem.

pic related was most definitely one of the most unsettling movies ive ever seen.
(by scariest i assume your talking about jump scares)
honestly the scariest movie ive ever seen might be the first time i watched the original evil dead.
>>84022474
this looks fucking twenty times scarier than the CGI monster in the film, what the hell were they thinking?
>>84022156
I bought it on DVD, is it rare now or something?

7:30 for anyone looking for the scene. i guess it really needs the build up to be effective
What or whom did he see?
Pontypool unsettled the shit out of me. It unfolds so plainly, but some of the weird language stuff that happened made me question my own sanity.
The Exorcist
It's really hard to come up with any others
>>84022890
this, it's complete shit. It's like someone who was completely incompetent watched Eraserhead once and tried to copy it.

>I haven't seen it but there is a black and white movie about some dude that has a monster baby and in the ends he kills it out of compassion
Nothing will fucking compare to being eight years old, having never seen a horror film or even a mature film at all and watching The Grudge. That shit genuinely fucking traumatized me for years, what a harsh entry point. The way she would just appear out of nowhere fucked me up, especially the scene where she just appears in bed under the covers.
>>84023192
i had a similar experience with signs. i was six and it royally fucked me up for years
semi related because it creeped me out but what was the movie with the popular scene of a boy in a white mermaidish/heaven outfit with watery eyes? someone used to make threads bashing atheism on /pol/ using a screenshot from the scene. he has a little crown thing too i think.
>>84023105
The Cure
>>84021523
he was just having a piss, whats scary about that?
>>84013243
I haven't seen that many horror films but I plan on finding real good horror, up until now the only film that really spooked me was the Blair Witch Project

>>84023408
Blair Witch is interesting. It really set the standard for found footage. But, it works better in that it tries very hard to make it seem authentic. The legends they made up seemed pretty believable.
>>84019581
Ghosts creeaped me out as a kid because they represented every fear I couldn't intellectualize away.
They were the shadows between the pools of light in the hallways at night. They were there when I closed my eyes. I couldn't hide from them. Their malice at my simply being alive hung in the air. No film has ever really captured that feeling of hopelessness.
>>84022222
Based Koji
>>84019581
I know it's just CGI and "fake" but I always get these nightmares where I see black shdows and feel watched every now and then. It's mostly that those kind of movies remind me of my terrible nightmares. The movies come no where close as my nightmares and I can mostly tell whenever something scary will happen and laugh about it but when I dream it's always something different but not completely.
>>84023795
I think J Horror does a pretty decent job of that. Their vengeful spirits are unrelenting. If a character is unlucky enough to cross paths with one they are done. No ifs ands or buts about it
It's something I love and hate
>>84023192

didnt the end of the movie have the characters seeing indiana jones 4 before they blow up a train station? i remember thinking he made the whole movie just to have someone see indy 4 and then kill 150 people
>>84021523
The best thing about that movie was the viral marketing.
>>84021762
This particular scene was scary as hell, but the movie as a whole sucked ass and REALLY falls apart at the end
>>84016037
JUST
Reposting because this looks like a horror general thread and I'm at the library again, hopefully not for the last time but don't know for sure. If you responded late in the last thread I may not have seen the response before 404 so could you repost if you had movies that match the criteria below? Thanks anons, repost below:
Okay anons, let me just be real with you for a second. I'm not from a first world country and shit is getting real where I'm living, my peaceful happy existence has a 50/50 of going down the tubes and I might not have internet for a while and just my laptop, so I'm going to drop all of the pretense and ask you all straight:
Please recommend me some horror movies that
>are actually pretty good (because I like horror)
>also have women peeing in them (because it's my fetish)
>are enjoyable to watch more than once (in case I can't get back online/have to leave my home)
>>84026448
You're going to need a lot of movies, games, anime, comics, and porn if that's the case.
>>84026666
Extra Satan does not lie, I'm downloading stuff pretty much whenever I'm on but there's too much horror to choose from and I've got a backlog already, so I come to these threads and ask this hoping someone will know of a few that are what I'm looking for.
>>84026715
You'll probably have better luck asking for recommendations for everything on /wsr/ that here. This thread is already dead it seems
>>84027103
Maybe I'll try it out then, but idk the rules of /wsr/ - can I make requests for information/lists about NSFW things as long as I don't post anything NSFW or request it be posted as a file?
>>84023192
>>84024249
Fuck J Horror after seeing The Grudge. I haven't really seen any good horror movies but that's the one that got me, there was no escape, I'd scare the shit out of myself thinking back to buildings I had recently gone into for the first time when I was alone in the dark. Someone told me the sequel has a scene where she appears underneath someone's computer desk and that fucked me up periodically for a while without ever even seeing the scene.
Sitting in the dark now just imagining that croaking noise she makes is making me chilly.
>>84016794
tfw I had to google to make sure I had actually seen this movie, I don't even remember anything from it.
Was it that bad or do I have alzheimers?
>>84021637
It's just spooky, what the fuck is he doing in the corner like that? What happened to him down there before they got there? Is he just refusing to look at or acknowledge whatever else is down there with them. or did whatever it is somehow force him to go stand in the corner? I'd even call it underrated.
The scene in the second where the kids watch the video they took of themselves the night before and see themselves all dancing naked around a campfire with no memory of doing it was pretty spooky too,

>lake mungo
Deeply unsettling on four levels:
>time is a flat circle...your fate is pre-decided and inescapable, and learning it would be a horrifying curse
>creepy, mysterious, "friendly" neighbors who have ritualistic orgies and then just abruptly disappear
>Alice turning up in her brother's "fake" photos anyway, trapped between the worlds

>>84029031
it's from his tv show, Louis. I think the episode is called "untitled."
The true horror from the episode is trying to raise two daughters that technically aren't yours after the divorce.
Fucking fire in the sky, then again that one scene is pretty much all the movie has.
But holy fucking fuck that scene.
Borderline horror, but Kill List is really fucking unsettling. The whole movie, even when it's just people arguing. You can tell that something is really not right and things are NOT going to end well.
What's the name of the movie that has a really slow killing and burial of a girl at the end?
I can't remember the name of the movie for the life of me. I remember it was quite a shit movie overall, but the ending was pretty cool and very fucked up where he's digging her grave for 10 mins and she's in the barrel

>>84029063
yup, that scene did not feel good at all. AR is one of Tarkowsky's accessible films, it is actually quite entertaining.
>>84013243
As far as unsettling go, The Clockwork Orange made me feel physically ill.
>>84024217
You just have shadow people watching you. Try to understand their motives
Thai version of Shutter was pretty spooky.
The Nightmare (2015)
Documentary about sleep paralysis. I've watched hundreds of horror movies and never have I felt so uncomfortable. I was looking at the timer every 5 minutes to see when it would end.
Highly recommended.

Anyone here watched Take Shelter? Really mindfuck of a movie, especially the end.

Wowee that ligitimately made me skip a beat
>>84030959
Reminder that in horror movies the spook rarely kills somebody, you should be most scared of chracters like Max Cady, Tony Montana etc because those characters are actually murderers.
>>84030123
As a guy who occasionaly have sleep paralysis this "documentary" really caught and described the feelings of it very well. But alot in that film is very new age bullshitty with tons of nu males who believe in weird spiritual things. Sleep paralysis is nothing but a strange state inbetween sleeping and dreaming, and is very closely related to lucid dreaming.
>>84031022
Should I bother watching it?
I'm in for experiencing the creep feeling of sleep paralysis.
>>84031013
Good point, made me sleep easier
>>84031045
Well best way I learned to avoid sleep paralysis is to sleep on my stomach and have happy thoughts. But its probably just a placebo thing, but it works for me.
And I recommend watching it. The movie have some really good looking scares and gives a feeling that someone is watching you. I try to not watch clip from that film at night cause it actually scares me and I stay up late and avoid sleeping at all cost.
>>84030123
That story where the voice screams "let me in" gave me chills desu
>>84031022
Tbh sleep paralysis is a better experience than lucid dreaming.
The first time it was bretty bad, but you learn how to get past the whole suffocating thing
>>84016037
I must not have seen this one because it probably would have ruined my ability to tolerate dark rooms for a good year
>>84031203
My sleep paralysis mostly kick in when I have a massive nightmare and I get aware it is a dream. My first instinct then is to try to make things better but then I freak out and wake up and whatever I had a nightmare about is still with me when I wake up. While it is there I am also unable to move and the only thing I can control is my breathing. It is something I pray never happens to me ever again.
>>84023610
Geez, this scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. They even put in a scene where one creeps up over the end of the bed. Now you're 9yrs old, you watched the movie by yourself anyway after everyone else went to sleep and now you're just laying there in your room staring at the end of your bed. Waiting. Fucking, dumb ass, B-movie from the 70's.
loft is a fucking nightmare

this movie takes a really odd change of tone in the last 20 minutes or so, but prior to that, it's one of the most ominous and dread-inducing films I've ever seen. There's just an unrelenting sense of things going "wrong". Fantastic droning soundtrack as well that reminds me of Irreversible.
>>84029493
oh god no
>>84023419
Yeah, the spider is creepy...but those outfits. Much creepier.
>>84028710

I swear /tv:/ has the shittiest of shitty taste in scary movies
>m-muh horror
>>84028465
That movie was shit and her dead head was a shitty reveal. I swear you faggots hype up this movie for no reason. Even for found footage, lake mungo is even more boring
>>84016105
Yeah, the ending to occult is supposed to be disturbing but it's so cheaply done it's funny.

It's just so bizarre and outright terrifying
>>84034375
ive seen this picture so many times that im guessing by the time i watch the movie this is gonna have no impact on me. exact same shit happed with mulholland drive with 'that' scene
>>84034813
Yep probably, but that isn't the whole scene and there's a few more of them throughout
>>84028843
I loved this episode when I first watched it. In the end you just know it is coming but it's still spooky as fuck. It was such a weird episode for a comedy series.
>>84026448
Where you at brah?
>>84029278
Watched this when I was 16 with a group of friends my female cousin and her friends.
It wasn't that bad honestly as in the gore side of things. I remember at the time people were talking nonstop about this movie but by this time I had already watched tons of gore on the interwebs,
>>84033844
AASB kinda made me wish there were more archaeological discovery related supernatural horrors.
>>84029381
The final shot is great

>>84019101
OP here. Anyone know where I could find this DL, or should I just watch it on vimeo
>>84029493
Shame the movie is 1/10th scenes like that and 9/10ths teen drama about characters I don't care about.
>>84035803
There was one about exploring an Egyptian pyramid that was good for the first half. Second half was them just running from a poorly made cg monster.
>>84032120
best found footage movie. underrated as fuck.
>>84035923
Yeah, every example I can think of is just a setup for a shit monster movie which is annoying.
>>84020770
I saw come and see a while ago. What a great and horrifying film. It was so well made to, it didn't drag on. It was perfect
>>84029213
This one guy who probably saw the film and didn't get it says this every time he sees it. Funny in a way.
>>84035896
What happens in the final shot? I remember them crawling through a cave of acid or some shit.
>>84035923
lol was that the one where the plants mimicked a mobile phone?
>>84036009They somehow crawl into the gut of the beast below the church and get digested alive
>>84022552
Nah I'm not talking about jump scares. I saw irreversible and it's fucked up, especially the ending. What I think is scary is either something surreal or very atmospheric and creepp happenings. Moments where everything goes silent and you think there might be a jump scare, but it's nothing. Things that keep you guessing are scary, not something predictable
>>84036017
That's The Ruins
>>84036152
cheers anon
This thread will probably 404 soon, but I will start up another one in a few hours for anyone who missed anything.
Ill be sure to post some suggestions you guys have given me and start the thread with a rough lift of what we have already covered and you guys can pick up movies that catch your eye. I'll try to maintain a general horror thread goin a few times a week atleast.
