i think the main problem is they forced in all these martial art fight scenes. instead of having them fight with magic blasts and other sorcery.
then the time elapsed is way too short. the entire movie takes place in less than a year. strange wouldn't even give his hands time to heal before trying another surgery after another. manages to find a secret magic city and become a master of several dead languages and magic in a few months.

It had to conform to a template. When your local cinema hosts a Marvel movie marathon, it will feel like one cohesive and consistent story without too many radical shifts in style and tone. It's all one long kids movie. Fiege's vision is trickier to pull off than we think.
