Tell me senpai, how will Coop regain his mentality? Will it be through the coffee at Twin Peaks or through meeting Gordon?
>>
>>83966073
probably through coffee, yes. I don't think the upcoming midget fight will wake him up but Lynch will play it as a comedy sequence of Coop avoiding the attack. Lynch will probably find out evil Coop is evil through Diane and will investigate how to find the real Coop.
>>

They're the kind of people who say phrases like "ummm, can we not?" and "um, i dunno you can definitely parse Lynch's work for problematic treatment of women" and "that's so icky!"

Basically a bunch of fat 50 year old ex-punks who listen to Taylor Swift now and fret over "icky" media portrayals of whatever
>>
But what if BOB isn't really evil, he's just misunderstood?
>>
>>83967052
The best weapon against them is complete irrelevance

They seek attention. This political nonsense is nothing more than a trend for them. The more you talk about them the more they try to demonstrate something to people unaware of this business.

Enjoy the show and hope that Lynch doesn't ever listen to these worthless human beings.

Yeah, the vast population isn't onboard with it.

The problem is that nearly the entirety of the media is, and social media is swarming with constant butthurt about 'media representation of said minority' etc.

The weird and annoying thing about the left is that they really aren't actually totally winning, but they work really overtime to force the perception that they are, that history is going their way, by forcing you to read things crafted to their irritating narrative constantly.

Agreed, but I think a crucial thing is to learn how to filter them out for yourself so you can be of clear mind, and not so affected you swing to hard towards any stupidity or obsessiveness.

Then, I think such a attitude should somehow become adopted across society... like a body developing immunity to a virus, the social body should develop a collective ability to filter out and ignore leftist complaints and emotional manipulation. But to get there I really think a key step is to learn how to live in a way where you can ignore it yourself, and then spread this attitude to others.

Not to derail the thread.

Windom Earle is inquestionably the best part of season two, simply because what enshrouds the Deleuzian representation of negation in “The Black Lodge” is by nature (W)indom (E)arle. We, the pure ample aspiration, the capital v-Viewer are held fantastically in a grip of pleasure as "solicitude", certainty as “knowingness” and “The Black Lodge” as ontological blockchain/godhead. TMFAP is absolute fact in opposition but the baroque villainy of WE's (and any Lovecraftian) the same sin to die “now” as on the path to Madness. The conditional “It” (DC) creates nothing in response, Earle's own humanity is reflected in his oeuvre of disguise-personalities. (performed) To WE (& the normative Cooper &Briggs) the Implacability of unsure sentiment is Earle’s selfenforcing principle, pleasure--simplicity. In Palmer, the reprised intelligences move towards psychosomatic transgression. WE's sickness is symptom & myth unlike the Palmer daughter his active agent is not important, but “normal” and yet pronouncedly considerable as such, bidding. “We a the, of not can he.” The subject of Earle is in an undiluted terrace viewed viewers become wrote wonders, noting nothing Indian anyhow in the Black Lodge (negation).

Then, there’s Earle, the something coupling with Lodge entities, (call it “force”, of what? of course: illusion. – by since And because of supremacy In ALL perceptions, (rare & cloistered the issue may be) what we then Now view as reality, IS,) [in WE's] subjection a full picture. In an open letter to Kenneth Welsh “Windom Earle” one asks to which if not to want introduction (Mark Frost) gigantic of up wrote run life, (MF) introduction, revelation, dreams, & value system, (MF,MF,DL,MF) ie. AS Windom Earle hAS in the Black Lodge. (the rudimentary transition in S2 of Windom A into form Windom B.) Perhaps to “comfyfags“ will greet these upon death, a paradoxical death for those who existence infects.

Season ThreeRatings

Thethird season ofTwin Peaksis averaging a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 321,000 viewers. Learn howTwin Peaksstacks upagainst the otherShowtime TV shows.

Historical Note:the second season ofTwin Peaksaired on theABCbroadcast network between September 30, 1990 and June 10 1991. Today’s television landscape is so different. When lowseason two ratingsprompted ABC to cancelTwin Peaks, the series averaged 11.277 million viewers. Were the revival to attract an audience of that size, today, Showtime would rename itself theTwin Peaks Networkand give this show a two season pickup. For that matter,so would ABC. The original series’ lowest rated installment, episode 2.20, drew an audience of 7.4 million. Today, that is a totally respectable number, even on the most-watched network,CBS.

sad but true
>>
The whole Dougie thing is part and parcel of David Lynch's style of filmmaking. David Lynch is an artist, his signature "just a bit too long" takes from odd perspectives is intended to make the viewer really think about what they are watching, whether it's beautiful or horrible. "Dougie" is a device to make us really look at the idiocy of 21st century life, but also to see the simple joys of the world through the eyes of a child. The lingering scenes of Dougie scrawling on insurance claim documents are at first unremarkable, then annoying, then they drag on and on, beyond the point of annoying into the realm of absurdity. And then they go on even more, and the haunting soundtrack plays, and you are forced to ask yourself questions like "why am I watching this? Why does this music make me feel sad? what the fuck is he actually doing?" Of course these kind of questions are exactly what Lynch is trying to stimulate.
>>

>>
>>83967756
I agree that the dougie plot is awful and I don't like the direction Lynch went with this season. Apart from the surrealistic elements, which are are top notch, the plot is way too disjointed.

I guess most people, including me, wanted Lynch to centre the show around Twin Peaks, this time introducing new interesting characters and giving us an insight on how the town has progressed in 25 years and keeping the Evil Cooper plotline as it is currently.

Right now the though, the show is an incoherent mess. Lynch has introduced what, like over 50 new characters, whom most have had less than 2 minutes of screentime.

I feel like this could have been a masterpiece but right now it seems to be just as mediocre as season 2.

Reminder that Lynch is a hack filmmaker with a few good ideas that has been literally unable, for his entire career, to present them in a coherent fashion without Mary Sweeney and/or Mark Frost to piece them together and make his bullshit tolerable.

Everything he's done without them has been an unwatchable mess outside of The Elephant Man, which at this point should be considered dumb luck.

Also the cube shit, while necessary-ish, didn't need to have the long scenes with the watcher and the girl bringing him coffee. They took up so much screen time only to be killed off.

I kinda like the new characters more because they didn't have Season 2 to shit on them constantly. I'm with with fanservice every now and then, but Twin Peaks is a completely different place in the newest series to how it was 25 years ago. Focusing on the same old families is dumb.
>>
>>83970373

The spirit we see was one of three who were working together to harvest garmonbozia by creating a love triangle of infidelity and murder between the principal, his wife and the librarian. The spirit we see in the cell resembles one of the spirits we see "above the convenience store" in FWWM. When DoppelCoop caught wind of their scheme he apparently decides to hunt them down, and since he wasn't sure BOB was even still with him until he ended up in jail, his mission to stop the spirits was his own decision. Shooting them through the face apparently has some beneficial factor to ejecting the spirit, since he (or the principal) kills the librarian in the same way as the wife. It either destroys the spirit completely or forces it back where it came from. I added the principal in parentheses because the spirit inhabiting him may have taken control to betray the spirit in the librarian and steal their share of garmonbozia, since the principal was in her apartment, but the "Briggs" body next to the head seems to imply it was DoppelCoop. When the wife is killed, DoppelCoop tells her she "followed human nature perfectly" (mocking the spirit's manipulation of her into committing adultery) and the screen ripples when she dies, symbolizing the spirit being forced out. The only spirit to get away is the one in the principal, who leaves (presumably with his share of garmonbozia) when the principal's manipulation is complete and he suffers a total emotional breakdown.

This is all just theorizing of course.

These were the episodes Showtime forced Lynch to make to pad out the length of the season. They seem to be as frustrating as possible because he's probably using them to weed out all the plebs who don't appreciate his style, like the plebs who booed at the FWWM premiere. In a few episodes time, shit's going to get real good.
>>
>>83971127
I kind of agree, even though I love the new season. The original series' best quality was its pinpoint focus, especially in season 1. He'll, the pilot is one of the most flawless episodes of television ever.

The cast size and scope of the story in the new season is overindulgent at best, sloppy at worst. Too many things get focus, resulting in not one thing getting enough focus. I thought 18 episodes was going to be a lot, but now based on everything we've seen, it may not be enough.

FWWM is a great story, but it really feels like it was pieced together in editing. It seems like Lynch didn't really figure out what kind of movie he wanted to make until halfway into shooting and it shows. The Missing Pieces kind of reinforce this.

I'd have been really upset about the reception if I was Sheryl Lee. She gave everything for that performance.

I'm not even sure the problem is the amount of "spinning plates" going on at the same time per se. It's the apparent lack of connection between the multiple stories. There was a lot going on in the original series, but it all occurred in the same town and you could draw lines based on how everything was connected to the central mystery.

I think if everything ends up coming together in the end, it will be fine. But right now it just seems like 3 different shows crammed into one.

I thought Mike and Nadine was great, at least compared to the other subplots. Nadine knocking out Hank was great.

Vegetable Leo was pretty funny. Also he reminds me of DBZ villains in that he went from scary, dangerous criminal to decoration to a greater villain's servant.

Civil War Ben was funny for a scene or two, but I got tired of it quickly.

James and Evelyn was literally soap opera shit.

I -hope- that michael cera, james, bobby, and the hornes will all be coming back... but I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that none of them will be. Even though it wouldn't make sense to not have bobby appear again as he's a cop and many of the the twin peaks scenes focus on the police station, I just feel like we've seen the last of him. idk why
>>
>>83972716
I think a lot of those choices are true but I can't decide which I think are true. Probably most of them. But forced to pick even one, I just don't know.

James seems the most likely to me.
>>
Is IMDB accurate about which actors are in how many episodes even though they haven't all aired yet? I noted that the IMDB info about Better Call Saul and American Gods that went up just before the seasons started airing was 100% accurate (in so far as how many episodes each actor was in).

For example, it says Kyle Machlachlan is in 18 episodes, shelly is in 15, etc so it definitely has data from unaired episodes. It also says big ed is in 11 so he'll have to show up soon.

That said, it also says Bobby is in 13 episodes, which if it's true it means he would have to be in every episode starting next week. It also says Janey-E is only in 3 episodes which would imply the arc with Coop living with them at home is about to end.

How trustworthy are these numbers? Could they be from before some weird editing fuckery that lynch did to splinter the plotlines and confuse everybody?

>>83973113
and yet he's also said that he filmed the season like an 18 hour movie and that he didn't really put much care into where episodes ended

Because of the secrecy of the project Imdb was only ever given information about the actors but not how they appeared in individual episodes. Obviously Richard will kill a certain somebody soon and Hawk will be investigating the pages. And they won't do it offscreen.

>watching series for the first time
>really enjoy all the 11/10 waifus like Audrey, Shelley, and Lucy
>they're all gonna be old and busted in season 3

did any of the girls age gracefully? Are there new waifus to replace them?
>>
>>83973182
probably is that, the episodes do feel like they have natural ends to me and "proper" episodic structure in general, maybe excluding the first ep.

Well, episode 1 and 2 were meant to be viewed together, anyway.

From time to time, I'll still rewatch seasons 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks. I do it for pleasure, because it's an enjoyable series, even if there's a stark quality drop-off and I wish certain things went differently.

Honest question, out of curiosity: do you guys think you'll rewatch season 3 years down the line out of pleasure?
>>
>>83973359

I don't usually rewatch entire tv series, but I might watch a few select episodes.

Captain-Major Garland "Scully" Briggs - he earned his nickname from his cerebral nature and penchant for wordy monologues.
>>
>>83973375
It definitely can take at least one rewatch but can it take 20? I don't know.
>>
>>83973375
Honestly, probably not. I don't watch twin peaks for the plot but for the characters and the comfy vibes, and s3 doesn't have enough of either so far. Maybe I'll just watch all the dougie coop scenes, they're enjoyable at least.
>>
>>83973375
Yes. It has been great so far. Really funny too.
