Through all of this the reporter will interview each of these three men in turn and unwittingly tip off both the sheriff and agent as to the outlaw's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, the gang leader (Matt as Hugh) finds out about his death, and kills who he thinks is an Internal affairs guy (Cooper as Bale) and takes HIS face, posing as an FBI agent posing as a mole (Cooper as Bale as Hugh) to get the man who he thinks tried to kill him.

Hugh Jackman is a vampire overlord, he is a scientist who invented a cure for "humanity", Cooper is also a vampire doctor in a famos hospital, he is responsible that humans would be infected with the cure. Bale and Conaughey are two FBI Agents (one is a funny playboy (Bale) and one is a broken man because his wife - spoiler - became a vampire) who are now facing a case where multiple people change and behave very aggressive and violent. In the end everyone is a vampire and there is no aggression or violence, so it was a cure for humanity but humanity works best when everyone is the same.

But The Brothers (McConaughey and Bale), one a politician, the other a businessman, usurped his father's position and assassinated him.

Jackman wants to make a man out of Cooper, show him the biz and make him claim the properties of his late father, as he is the only legitimate son, to strike back at the Brothers.

He'd done a few films before it but he didn't really become known until The Hangover. While the film itself was decent at best it gave him a tonne of exposure which he then used to star in other films which were also competent successes. I wouldn't call him an amazing actor but he's certainly competent and has marketed himself well; balancing his number of roles without saturating viewers with himself.
