Because in the 80s and 90s she was direly overhyped. In retrospect, she was ok but when Hollywood self-consciously goes on and on for that long it overshadows what talent she had. Susan Sarandon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Melanie Griffith, and Julia Roberts, too. All were in big movies, but they themselves weren't anywhere near as talented or attractive as their reputations said.

Some like Carrie Fisher, Jodie Foster, and Angelina Jolie could deliver the star power once their names got their feet in the door, and others couldn't.

This affects male actors less... But don't forget that George Clooney is eager to tell you of his humble origins in Kentucky, but less so that he comes from an acting dynasty. Nicholas Cage was incredibly talented (if not quite so talented as the press was gushing at his height) but he too comes from a dynasty.
