Those tripods and their call were scary as fuck to me as a kid.

What made this move interesting was that that it was an alien invasion movie where there is communication with the aliens, no understanding them, no fighting them. It's all hopeless and you're on the shit end of an extermination. The tripods just torched everyone and I t was brutal. And the panic as you see humans turn into terrified rodents was creepy.
