reminded me of the scene in Born On the 4th of July were the ww2 marine vet savagely puts down Ron Kovic when he is whining about "muh vietnam"

Basically the guy is crying at the end because he has to go to prison for commuting a crime. I don't get how I'm supposed to have empathy for a fucking scumbag and him fighting in vietnam doesn't matter.

I loved Menace II Society in my young days so I was pumped when this came out. I was expecting some throwback hoodkino but instead was met with an intensely sad and depressing film. Probably one of the first "harsh reality" type films I ever saw.

I think civilized societies should punish people who commit terrible crimes by making them watch this flick

I hate niggers as much as the next guy, but the ending was perfect. It was a complete subversion of modern happy ending bullshit. Everyone is either caught or dead, and the movie fades to black as the protagonist is on his way to prison for life.
