I don't understand blood diamond. I don't agree with others, but I'll admit they're remarkable films that could qualify for someone's favorite.
But Blood Diamond isn't remarkable. I just don't see how you put it in there.
This is pretty hard, especially if you're not 16 anymore.

I couldn't fully enjoy Wings of Desire because of that Nicolas Cage remake. It killed it for me but I still like the film. I love the idea that all artist are angels that give up immortality to appreciate the intricacies of life. or at least that's what I got out of it.
>>83857633
its very well made and well acted, but i didnt find it very interesting storywise.
>>83857886
>muh dystopia
>>83857691
But why?
The story is simple and not really interesting, characters hold conversations to give exposition even though there's no reason for them to dicuss any of it because it's common knowledge in-universe, the female lead is bland, the female side character is infuriating, the gypsy woman they pick up later is annoying as well but she's only around for like 10 minutes and there's really nothing special about this movie at all.
There is one shot where somone throws a brick at their windshield early on that I liked, but that's it.
>>83857974

I like them both but I think I prefer how raw and subdued El Topo is compared to Holy Mountain which is more spectacular. Visually though Holy Mountain is better, of course.
I find it difficult to say that something is my definite favourite though as there are so many films that I enjoy for different reasons.
>>83858008

I once wrote a 2,000+ word essay on Birth of a Nation and I didn't even get an hour into it. I got high to be "enlightened" but the film was boring af so I decided to jerk off instead.

Griffith is of course extremely relevant to the history of film, but most of his movies are so drawn-out and thespian that unless you're watching for the historical/industry relevance you might as well just go to a theater and watch a real play instead. They're meant to be theatrical pieces. Birth of a Nation has a fucking intermission.

Raiders 5/5 iconic 80s film, great from start to finish.
Ind. Day 3/5 cheesy, worked as tongue in check homage to 50s Sci Fi movies
Had some cringe moments though
R1 4/5 a little slow at first, what the prequels could have been
WS 5/5 excellent hybrid between comic book movie and a political thriller. IMO the best film of the MCU.
Lost in Translation
Casino
Amadeus
Inside Llewyn Davis
Fantastic Mr Fox
>>83865572
Dr. Strangelove 5/5 one of the best dark comedies ever made and the satirical movie about the Cold War
Jaws 5/5 while the SPFX haven't aged well, the acting and story still holds up almost half a century later.
Fanny och alexander
Winters light
Dear Zachary
Paris Texas

The reason I like it so much is because I'm trying to get over a girl who is dating one of my good friends.
I'm pretty cynical, listen to a lot of 1930s and 40s jazz, and am more mature than most of the other students in college.
She can speak fluent French, is extremely smart, can be very witty and I unknowingly found myself falling in love with her while she loved someone else. I didn't realize it until later.

t-thanks anon. id4 was cheesy, but the effects (at the time, and somewhat still today) were top notch and the design/concept of the aliens was bretty cool.
Don't forget FotR 5/5 pure fantasy kino. Possibly the best fantasy adaptation of all time.
