No, I still like the ocean, especially scuba diving. When diving, sharks are nowhere near as scary compared to surfing or swimming on the surface. I can't tell you how many sharks I've seen while diving, and I've never been fearful. Cautious, yes. But not afraid.

Jaws and Alien ruined several summers for me but in totally different ways.

I remember not being too scared when seeing Jaws but it grew like a virus in my mind. Alien fucked me hard as I watched it and wouldn't leave me alone.

They're sprititually similar scares and both involve oceans. I've moved far into the coutnry and now I consider forests and hillsides a different sort of ocean, just a huge roaring dark that we can poke into sometimes but is most terrifying beause of what comes out of it.

It went snorkeling off a reef in the Philippines on one of the smaller southern islands, and for some reason we couldn't get the boat close enough to the shallows and had to drop anchor a bit farther away from the reef. No. When I came here from Cuba on a car that was converted into a boat, the sharks were circling us when we were like 2 hours away from the keys. They really don't do anything. One guy was trying to pet the shits when they got really close. My uncle was on another raft and would go into the water to pee and he went into the water while they were near. He was a fisherman and didn't give a fuck about sharks. My mom and I prayed and God heard us and made the sharks go away. This was when I was 6. Afterward , my uncles would always take me boating and I would swim 5 miles off the coast. I saw jaws for the first time when I was 18 and found it a bit silly, but I understand why people wouldn't want to swim in the ocean afterward.

Indeed. I was in Cancun back in 1999 and the water is round about chest deep for a 100 yards or so, then it drops off an underwater cliff and my buddy was blithely swimming way out past that part while I was just waiting for a kraken to come up and grab him.

the fuck is a deep water shark? I tagged greenland sharks in the arctic and they were pretty chill. Those things live in like 400 m of water.

Most sharks don't hang out in the middle of the ocean, there's nothing out there, it's a water desert. Mainly oceanic white tips cruise around out there.

Great whites are coastal unless they're migrating somewhere.

the sharks may be smaller, they're not less dangerous, shown by the fact that they cause more fatalities.

most people don't go out past 15 yards from the shoreline while at the beach unless they surf. most shark attacks relatable to jaws are either done to scuba divers on a reef or from mako's venturing too far in shore. people go crazy when i say i pet nurse sharks like 30 yards off the shore on the sandbars. little guys are so damn cute though.

Even a bite from a smaller shark on your thigh could prove fatal. I don't think there's such a thing as a minor shark bite. I used to go to the Florida part of the Gulf of Mexico every year, I've had any issue with or even saw a shark but I've stepped on a stringray twice and have been stung pretty badly by a jelly fish.

A dogs mouth isn't full of razors meant to slice whole sections of flesh out in a single bite. You cannot compare a shark bite to a dog bite.

Most people are also only around in 3 feet of watet. It's like that stat that most car accidents happen within a mile of the house. It's not because it's more dangerous it's because most likely that's where people are driving.
>>
>>83860516
Nah, we're talking 3-4 foot long sharks here. They mainly feed on small fish and stuff. Their bites aren't going to do that much damage to an adult.

Now I feel like you're just fucking with me. A four foot shark could certainly do plenty of damage to a human adult. It's not going to bite your leg clean off but could easily lacerate you down to the bone.
