I know he does - there's been a couple repeats but he's definitely had the most variants. Tennant really just changed ties and undershirts besides the brown/blue suit and yes/no coat, and 11 had a couple of major costume changes but largely just kept the same style per costume rather than having lots of subtle variants like capaldi

I'm talking about whether they'd make the female doctor have a tennant style signature suit that always stays the same to make a statement and 'challenge gender norms'

Yeah I thought it was really bland and underwhelming when those promo pics came out. I'm glad they didn't stick to it, the hoody combo and stuff has been pretty cool. Still sort of feels like he doesn't necessarily have a distinct look that can be copied though. Almost all the other Doctors can be recognised just by their clothes, but I feel like cosplaying as him would require more to be instantly recognisable.

Part of the point of capaldi's outfit was that he wanted kids to be able to pretend to be the doctor just by throwing on whatever clothes they had and doing the top button up, so I think they nailed it in that regard

For me 12's signature look will always be the whoodie with the long coat partly because I do that irl and have done since before capaldi did it on the show. Which is a bit odd considering that it took a whole series before he wore it. His outfit is actually fairly nonstandard in that every individual part of the outfit can be changed yet it still looks like him so long as there's some combination of long coat (overcoat?), shirt with the top button done up, t-shirt, hoodie and/or waistcoat. He's definitely the most effay doctor

I think most people will either remember him as having the outfit he was first announced with, or the one in the first S9 promo pictures (t-shirt, hoodie, pyjama pants, raybans and guitar). There was a full year I guess where the red velvet was the outfit used in promo pictures, but it was also the year with no episodes so it probably won't be considered his iconic outfit no matter how much /who/ loves it

I'm honestly really really looking forward to seeing what a new era will be like. I wasn't following the show back in 2010 so the idea that we're going to get as drastic a change as End of Time to The Eleventh Hour is still hard for me to accept.
