I preferred the later seasons of 4-7, but I think they'd have been much better if they killed or had Xander leave. He was wasted space after S3.

I also didn't care for Angel much until S5. I know that's sacrilege on /tv/, but the show as a whole felt try-hard edgy.

Buffy and Giles are my favorite characters and S5 is probably my favorite season beginning to end, though I think the first two acts of 6 and 7 are great.

I love Buffy, legitimately think it's one of the best TV shows of all time despite its flaws. I've seen every episodes at least twice, but I've never seen Angel. I couldn't get past something in the buffy-verse without the Scooby Gang. Should I just watch it? To the anons that like Buffy, does Angel add anything to the series?

Angel has its own scooby gang. they take some time to assemble but it makes it all the more rewarding since you actually see the formation of the team, unlike Buffy where the 4 mains basically got together in episode 1.

I was in middleschool when Buffy ended and it got me into tv shows. So over the last 12 years I've just been avoiding Angel thinking that it would somehow tarnish the Buffy-verse without really knowing anything about. I'll start the first episode tonight.

Angel, Cordelia, and Wes are all in first season as mains and they're all from buffy.

Buffy, faith, Willow show up down the road.

David Greenwalt, was main driving force for the show. Though Whedon did have a lot of input in spurts. He was torn away from both these shows over firefly.

Wesley is best boy. I consider his arc to be one of teh most well-written transitions simply because it felt natural. His slowly coming into his own from Season 1-3 and then finally "betraying the team" and then embarking on his Punished Wesley journey in Season 4 to come back to the team in Season 5 with all the knowledge and emotional trauma he accrued in the years prior.

The problem is actually the changes that aren't made. They just use the original film stock whereas the original SD broadcasts were intentionally darkened in post-production because so many scenes were filmed during the day but took place at night
