great minds think alike
No but seriously i think Fear X is a amazing film that really sticks with the viewer afterwards. That nothing much happens in the film is a positive, same with the lack of a real "climax". The meaningless searching for meaning. The atmosphere, sound design, set design, the use of the color red is just perfect. The whole film just feels cold. It portrays the loneliness and emptiness the main character experiences perfectly. John turturro does one of the best performances of his career. Watching the film is very much like turturro's character obsessively watching the tapes. It's completely open to interpretation, to what you make of it. But the images remains in your head long after.
This is the most mature film refn has made. There is no selfjerking. It's a shame that he did not continue down this path.
