What's his end game?
Vulture capitalism by way of organized crime.
It's a standard MO for crime bosses, shown in Godfellas and Sopranos.
Some door guy gets a mob loan for the company he owns. Goes into it by thinking he can pay the loan off at mob's obscene interest rate and get out with his skin intact.
But it doesn't happen. The mob doesn't see the loan as a loan but as an investment. They now OWN the businesses and won't let the owner pay back the loan (if he can).
The mob starts co-opting the business for their illegal activities. They then force the owner to start forcing the owner to take out loans and max out their credit with suppliers and shit, putting them into debt so high they can never get out of it. The money goes to the mobsters themselves and the goods ordered, go to the mobsters black market operations.
Finally, they destroy the store itself for insurance (which they take) and leave the owner basically irrevocably fucked with all of the debt he now owes, if the mob doesn't just kill him to put him out of his misery once they are done with him.
