>>

Despite how great a milf Robin Wright is her character has undoubtedly ruined the show.
>>
>>83813288
They should've ended it with season 2. Either that or let it take more time for him to become president.

After he became president it really started going down hill in quality pretty fast.
>>
>>83813288
The Yanks decided to remake it
>>
Frank should've never got the presidency. They should've used the office of the presidency as a carrot on a stick and led Frank further and further down a rabbit whole but instead of a presidency what he finds on the other side was total self-destruction.

But instead he won like he always wins. And if he doesnt win then Claire wins which in turn means he wins. FFS Doug should be dead already. He literally flew to bumfuck nowhere to murder a prostitute and then bury her and then fly back and there was no consequences.
>>
>>83813421
Son. Its a long hard road to the top of the mountain, and the second you defeat the wise man on top theres someone else fighting you for it.

>>
>>83813288
>MY TURN
in all seriousness it went wrong with claire and franks personal relationship. the list of subplots strictly from that is a page long and horribly convoluted. also frank being in control was a big part of what made it good, when he seems incompetent the show does as well.
>>
its strange, they try to make it seem as though claire is as clever and crafty as frank, yet whenever she's given more responsibility and power she always acts like it's an uncomfortable burden and is hesitant.
I actually can't remember something that only she was able to do that ended up being successful, in the end.
>>
It officially jumped the shark when Claire talked to us.

Tom Yates is probably Beau Willimon's fantasy, a writer with a troubled past playing the role of Svengali while being the rhetorical power behind the throne. Also getting laid with Claire.

this. I miss how he hit his ring on shit, he used to be so alpha. The writers got cold feet because Trump and couldn't keep writing Frank the same way.
>>

This. Life imitated art and now it's not fun.
>>
>>83813288
But Season 5 is the best season since 2?
>>
>>83814035

>I get to be president now!
>literally has zero political allies
>no political agenda to speak off except reacting to what's in the news at the moment
>some shady old lady is literally feeding her weird intel and making her do things
>her VP is another shady guy who also cleaned up her murder

At least Frank was whip for ages so he has dirt on literally everyone and can work them, but Claire knows fuck all and without Frank even less than that.

And both of her only two advisors are people that appeared in her life less than a month ago and have shady agendas of their own.

She has been portrayed as being severely autistic, but Frank allowing her to get this far was a monumental mistake on his part.
>>
>>83814199
is 4 the worst season? Because I am having trouble getting through it. It's so fucking boring after the liver thing is over with.
>>
>>83813353
I bet women love Tom Yates scenes
>>
>>83814382
Yes. By far.
>>
Why are Claire and Frank even working against each other? They read the first chapter of the book and then they were like mortal enemies after that. Did the book really just wake them up? That's such shitty writing. Also I'm half way through season 4 and why is Tom Yates still in this show? I don't even know wjat's going on anymore.
>>
>>83813714

>Frank kills one person and that subplot has been dragging on for 5 seasons now with zero progress

>Claire casually kills their main speech-writer and has her VP clean it up offscreen using some random contractors

I did find it amusing when that civil war homo went full retard and got mowed down on the lawn.
>>
>>83814382
It's awful until the last few eps when it comes back to actually having a plot.
>>
>>83814532

Better yet what was the purpose of the Hammerschmidt subplot which went absolutely nowhere over the course of the entire season.
>>
>Despite being the world's most competent, most dedicated, and most sober political enforcer for years before the show, Doug yet again almost destroys everything by drinking or sleeping with a loose end
>Despite spending her whole life as part of a highly successful political union dedicated to securing power over all else, and making endless speeches about how she and Francis only work properly as a team, Claire yet again almost destroys everything by backstabbing Francis or having a pang of guilt

Why can't writers just sketch out some kind of inter-season plot when they try to do shows like this? House of cards now has that Lost feel of a bunch of writers just making up shit as they go along
>>
>>83814568
>actually having a plot.
oh thank god, that's exactly the problem with season 4. Nothing is fucking happening.
>>
>>83814608

>Despite understanding exactly how Claire's autistic mind works and promising they're in this together he tells her to her face to stay in the kitchen and not get in his way and laughs at her when she says she's a big girl and can to to the bathroom by herself while pissing her panties
>>
>>83814608
I don't think it's comparable to Lost. Even when they started making shit up to keep it going, the character arcs were still interesting. HoC on the other hand, is boring all the way through.

But he should have seen her betrayal from a mile away, S1/2 Frank would have.

Let's not pretend the constant "but I already knew what was going to happen" of the first couple of seasons was any better.
>>
>>83815154
He specifically said that leaving the backdoor open would let any hacker in to cover his own tracks in all the noise. The insinuation is that a ton of dudes were fucking around while he went in so it wouldn't just look like one guy.

everything was better than this shit we got afterwards

i bought a poster of Frank on the Lincoln Chair after watching season 2 and im so fucking tempted to hide it under the bed right now
>>
>>83813288
Literally nothing changes through the entire series. It's just Frank thinking he is superior to everyone else and moving up political ranks. Still the same jackass in the end.
>>
>>83816209

Without Doug he'd be nothing.
>>
>>83816119

Show failed to adequately expand as Frank moved up the ladder.

Now that he was president and in the white house his circle of immediate subordinates contracted and everything felt small.
He's literally only interacting with five people.

Not to mention that he failed to do anything tangible while he had the presidency.

Did he even state any actual goals?
The entire show kind of segued into Frank's constant damage control.
>>
>>83813288

>copypasta real events
>100% blue pilled

>>
>>83813288
It stopped being logical. As the season progressed the choices the characters made made less and less sense, and then by the end it was pure shit.
>>
>Frank becomes VP
>forces the president out
>becomes president
>makes his wife his VP
>steps down
>his wife is now president
>his wife chooses some random power broker as the VP

house of cards is a show where you expect to be seeing anal sex with a hot girl, but then you see a ribbon of shit running up the guys dick and then they zoom the camera out to reveal that it was actually going into a man's ass the entire time, there never was a chick at all and now you feel gay

>>

>>
>>83816955

Well it's going to end in a nuclear holocaust when Petrov pulls the trigger finally.

I see it going on for maybe one more season, two maybe.

I think eventually all the investigations will start to corner them with no exit strategies so they'll just initiate a world war.
>>
>>83813288
He should have cemented a rivalry with the speaker of the house in seasons 1 and 2, but never have the opportunity to exact revenge. Should have ended season 2 with Frank touring the Oval Office, and assuming he's going to become President. Then via schenanigans, or injury, the Speaker of the House snags it from him. Season 3 is him trying to get more friends, and then finally taking down the ex-Speaker to take the Presidency.

Season 4 is him trying to solidify his position. It should take a lot of clean up if you take down two presidents. Claire uses this opportunity to run for Frank's old congressional seat. Season 5 has Frank finally settle down as President, and start getting some stuff done. Then major enemies start popping up, who will be perpetual rivals, instead of people who last for 3 episodes, and then disappear forever. But now he has to run for reelection, and he selects a nobody as his running mate. The first episodes of season 6 are him winning the election; then there's him forming a full cabinet. He also starts to enjoy the thought of the private sector, but this doesn't become very important this season. In the season 6 finale, Frank has a stroke, and it's reported that he's dead. The final scene is his VP being inaugurated.

Season 7 reveals that Frank was temporarily dead, but was resuscitated, and was in a coma. He now holds no office. He uses this opportunity, and all of his contacts to amass a fortune. He's thrusted into the spotlight as his VP starts condemning stuff he's done, and the media is constantly starting to unravel his scandals. This time he doesn't have the power of the Presidency to protect him; during an investigation by congress, Claire defends him successfully. Then in season 8 Frank runs against his ex-VP, and chooses Claire as his running mate. He wins.

Season 9 is another comfy Frank as President season. In season 10 Frank gets shot, and is 100% dead. After a funeral, the series ends with Claire getting revenge.

Producers have final say on all creative decisions in a show or movie. Plus Robin Wright was the director for the last couple episodes. When you're the director and producer, you have final say on set, so she could easily force scripts to be rewritten to focus on Claire more.

Micky Doyle not only fucking the First Lady / Vice President but literally sleeping in her bed every night and NONE of this making it’s way to the media, was straight up stupid.

There are several dozen people who work as maids, waiters, cooks, etc. in the White House who would have known about the affair and spilled the beans.

I think that's the point. The next season will be Frank fucking over Claire and him restoring his position, or even becoming even more powerful. Maybe turning the US into some weird civil war/power struggle reminiscent of rome
>>
>>83814593
Yeah, it was a pretty dumb reveal how Frank and Doug were the ones leaking stuff to Tom. I don't think they're done with Tom though, that scene where he meets with the rest of the Herald implied that he isn't ready to end the investigation. Plus Leann's death is obviously gonna cause a stir, so I'm sure Tom will be looking into that. And Doug can turn on Frank at anytime - he never cared for Claire, and the new transfer of power may make him lose faith in supporting Frank, especially since it seemed like he was starting to like Leann before they took her out.
>>
>>83814608
Are you seriously forgetting that Doug wasn't the one who killed Zoe, and he only killed Rachel Posner per Frank's orders?
>>
>>83818193
Frank always had a penchant for men, they hint at it in season 1 during his college reunion when he and his friend discuss their past relationship, then the threesome with Meechum confirmed it. Plus there was that awkward handgrab between him and Tom in season 3, and obviously the stairwell hookup from this last season with that cringy history buff.
>>
>>83814186
Except Frank is basically supposed to be Hillary. Look it up; House of Cards was literally based on the Clintons. Well, the stuff that wasn't ripped off from the original, that is.

It's better than Season 3, I slogged through that over 3 months, but I actually really enjoyed season 4.
>>
>>83818467
I felt like his whole "private sector" speech was him refusing to admit any fault in letting Claire double-cross him so easily, so he has to justify it with this half-baked idea that he's gonna be the next billionaire mogul, even though he was literally making fun and chastising all the guys who did the same at the Grove.

I know everyone is making fun of the Claire thing for how obviously it panders to the trend of everything having a feminist angle, but I don't actually think it's that bad of a plotline - this series has always been about power and how it affects the psyches of those who chase after it. Literally everyone who's gotten close to the Underwoods, be it Doug, Zoe, Russo, Tom, Leann, etc., were all doing so for the illusion of power, and we're seeing it especially with the new wave of characters they introduced this season. I think the point they're trying to make is that it's ultimately a fool's errand, as they will always be outmatched by someone eventually. Everyone who got into the White House gets stiffed by the Underwoods eventually, and now the Underwoods themselves are in trouble because Frank and Claire allowed themselves, for a time, to believe in the idea of partnership. At least Frank did, and I'm sure next season we'll see if Claire really intended to do this from the start of their relationship or if she was driven to these motivations just from being around Frank for so long. And as we know from the very premise of season one, Frank does not take kindly to betrayal. If the writers get their shit together and cut down on the HELP HELP moments, I think next season will be very exciting, provided they make it the last one. And they really, really need to make sure Claire faces consequences for her actions - it's bad enough that the SJW crowd is already praising the ending of s5 and her character even though she's just as terrible as any of the men around her - goes to show how useless feminism is if they have to make her an icon.
>>
Honestly, the worst part of HOC is how often they recycle their plotlines. We've done the whole song and dance with Claire/Frank drama, what, 5 times now? It's boring.

I won't be tuning in next season.

On one hand, I fucking hate Claire. She is literally Skyler 2.0

On the other, Frank not being president may give us some kind of "rollback", like going back to S1 Frank who wasn't at the top of the mountain yet.

The bad part is the series will have one of the two following endings:
- Frank and Claire fight over power for 2 seasons, then they get together again. It ends with the two as POTUS and vice with a sour ending because we rooted for him but the villains won.
- Claire kills Frank. She goes to Europe with a new identity.

My bet is the second is the one we will get.

It will end with Claire fucking everything up and getting into a war with Petrov over Syria.

When times get tough she calls Frank to help her out and they both play hardball with Petrov.

Parallel to that all the investigations going on finally lead back to them so when they're finally cornered and at the top of the world they decide to go nuclear with Petrov rather than relinquish power and the series ends with a full-scale nuclear war. At that point very likely Doug kills them both in a nuclear bunker.

No, they will do the ending to "To Play The King" but with Frank in the role of Not-Prince Charles.

He'll turn on Claire at long last and go Republican (as a nod to Bernie Sanders going independent to Democrat). Ending will imply Claire will lose in disgrace when pitted against her husband (since she can't fuck him without fucking herself) and Frank gets the last laugh, after he manipulates Claire to give him immunity.

They already toyed with antagonizing Russia for personal gain and you had Claire fondling the nuclear football.
Even Frank having antichrist imagery while going through his MRI scan after getting shot.
>>
They took a well done but formulaic show and strayed from the formula thinking they could get by on slightly menacing tone and Kevin Spacey's acting alone.

Truly iconic lines that could have come from /tv/ itself

No. We hate them too.

When Remy fucked Claire for a solid 30 seconds as Frank kept eye-contact with the camera while masturbating

It was an uncomfortable, kind of awkward scene..

Why did Frank never fuck Douglas or have a 3some with his wife?
>>

their bond is not sexual, and also doug is either ambivalent towards or hates claire.
>>
If the next season isn't 100% about Frank attempting to murder Claire, then it's guaranteed to be complete and utter garbage.
>>
>>83813947
In the slim chance this isn't bait, you do know Frank and Claire were heavily based off the Clintons, murdering people to stay ahead and all, right? If a murdering sociopath being in the white house is what would make this show "too much" for you, then you never should have picked it up, since I'm pretty sure it started after 1992.
>>

S1 when Frank became a murderer. THe show jumps the shark here going from an awesome behind the scenes back stabbing political drama to a bunch of impossible bullshit.

It was just a dog, anon.

When they decided to keep making the show after last season. Seriously, everything was leading up to it being the end, it would have been perfect.

Now we have a season where they magically stretch out an election boringly over the course of most the season.
>>
>>83829070
It really should have ended at 52 episodes, a full house if you will. Now we get at least one more season of retardation. This is why we don't put the lead actors in charge of production.

Gotta love Frank having the sudden revelation that having someone outside in the private sector is important, when that's exactly what Claire's role was in the first two seasons.
>>
>>83830098
She was more like NGO/charity or third sector really. But it is a HUGE fuck up.
>>
>>83830196
Exactly, she was peddling influence for money and good boy points. Exactly what Frank resigned to do. Except better, since she wasn't a disgraced former president.
