Why do 92% of space movies have to involve some jump scare murderous alien? Space is already hostile enough and that's why something like The Martian is literally a million times better than these rehashed killer alien stories.
So what would a list of genuinely good space movies be?

I'd also add 2010 with Sean Connery to that list. And, not really a space movie so I don't want to derail your thread, but Outland also with Connery.
