DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A BABY

i don't think the language gave them time traveling abilities. just the ability to "perceive" time as the octopods. you technically can't change time itself, but you can "travel" from period to period.
>correct me if i'm wrong.

She already knew what was going to happen if she got pregnant. She holds back her tears when he asks her if she wants a baby. If she said no then the future would change and she would "perceive" a totally different time line, no?

I dont think the diseased baby part was that important to the kino tbqhwyf. The movie was more focused on the translating at alien arrival hence the title "Arrival"
>>83786514
correct. she can't change the future, she just sees time in a nonlinear way (as the aliens do). past present and future do not occur in a straight line in the aliens' language/mode of perception

>i need to see this movie again.
i can't remember if she was seeing the memories of her future in the beginning of the film. i also can't remember if renner's character had the ability as well. either way, i think she would not have been able to save the world if she went on a different time line away from the one meeting the chinese military leader, which is the same one as having a cancer baby.
