It's less about his films and more about him. He's extremely insecure, to the point that he can't say anything remotely serious without ending it with a "well that's coming from the fat guy who made Clerks so who cares" remark to elicit a laugh. That insecurity has a lot to do with him growing up fat i think. And he's been banking off "DUDE WEED LMAO" for a decade now.
