In a strange way, I almost look at Snyder passing off the completion of the project to him like a parallel to Superman being absent and Bruce having to pull the League together. I think Whedon will take the honor seriously and respect Snyder's vision.

I believe they pussied out on Snyder's story, or atleast parts of it for WW.

In BvS, she is described as having lost faith in man after witnessing senseless destruction and killing. WW really never portrays this, making her tragedy more about romance than the actual state of man. It feels like they made it more accessible and light in response to BvS. Snyder suggested the WW1 setting precisely because it was so brutal and senseless with no clear moral high ground for either side. That aspect was sort of diminished.

Me too. I'd love a Joker film that's ground level and gritty, like that one graphic novel, really flesh out Jokers crime network. Drop a Batfleck cameo at the end to tie in to The Batman and you've got a solid film.

The Ultimate Cut is perfection. The Theatrical Cut is too fast and I think if WB were set on 2 and halv hours, they shouldn't have forced Snyder and Terrio to include WW and the rest of Justice League. That way they could've also saved the Theatrical Cut. Justice League works in the UC but they take too much room in TC and it reeks of studio execs breathing down Snyder's neck.

The marriage of Dark Knight Returns/Peace on Earth/Death of Superman is the heart of the film and they did really good on that. Much better than I could imagine in my wildest dreams.

There's a 4 minute scene where Wonder Woman reads commercials for the Justice League that didn't need to be there. If anything, that kinda crap could have been split between SS and at the start of WW.

Apart from that, the tone shift in the relationship between Batman and Superman was pretty loose and didn't flow well with me. I get that Batman just saved Superman's mum, but they act like they have a report when WW is hanging around.

Outside these two points, I honestly can't fault it.

Superman = prometheus/the dawn/man of tomorrow/hegel's ideas on consciousness(fantasy made reality/subjective is mixed with the objective)

BvS starts with death, and how bruce (or we) react to it, traumatized by it, and subsequently fall, and seek or find empowerment by sublating these experiences (bruce uses brute personal force, lex uses intellect, or knowledge)

Black Zero takes this further contextualizes it as a mass cultural phenomenon held in common, while focusing on the arrival of "the superman" and how traumatic this is not totally (or at all really) because of the destruction, but because of this bursting of fantasy into reality, which in this case, as with the whole movie, is presented as a literal god-man who literally is above us all

as we all know, all reactions to him are through the lens of power, and how he affects the status of power in the world, government, common citizens, lex, bruce. but power represents different things to different people. furthermore, we see that power is in many in many ways, if not totally about sex, lex being the only one who has dialogue explicitly tying his acts and therefore his relations of power to it. bruce is tying his identity to his sense of identity in the world to his father, but always in relation to his mother, the specifics of the shot where batman has a moment with martha after he saves her stood out to me immediately, especially given that he had just been trying to pric- spear some guy
