What are some movies about hopeless last stands? I feel like its a genre that would really be kino if done right, but for some reason there isnt much examples of it in movies, Katsumoto in The Last Samurai is the only example I can think of. Anyone know any other movies like that?

do you want the situations to literally be hopeless or only seem to be hopeless and then insert miracle solution here and boom the good guys win?
Because Pacific Rim is a good example up to a certain point and then we get generic hollywood ending #2,451

While it doesn't really fit OP's criteria I thought Rise of an Empire was pretty good too for a movie that didn't really need a sequel; if only for Eva Green's presence.
Kingdom of Heaven is another good one. The director's cut.

i Katsumoto and his scenes and storyline were kino and elevated the movie to kino. Gayboy fag Cruise did a somewhat acceptable job of not ruining thd movie too
