Why does TV seem to be doing better than cinema right now?
people have low attention spans

Because it's a much more lucrative industry for actors/writers/producers/etc.
If you're on a show that takes off you're pretty much guaranteed a steady paycheck for years.
If your network drops you there's always the non-zero chance Netflix grants you a second life
Plus TV studios are generally much more lenient than movie studios when it comes to hollywood bullshit (wanting big name stars, massive budgets, CGI out the wazoo, test screening for popcorn zombies, having to answer to Merv Wewanthetransformersaudiencestein)
