What did I think of it /tv/?
And another bump
Phantasm 2 is tight.

Make your own fucking opinion.
I felt like the series in itself didn't quite know where it was going with it all though. First movie had some spookiness to it, but I think if it went more toward a supernatural leaning than a sci-fi one, it would have been more interesting for me. But that's just my two cents.
Also, how the fuck are we to beleive that an aging, balding ice cream man keeps getting women interested in him? Is it because they all end up sphere-puppets or dead or something? Shouldn't he have noticed something was weird when women were hitting on him?

Tbqh one of my favourite bits of this one is how the supernatural and sci-Fi elements overlapped. I watched it with a similar mentality to Mulholland Drive in that it was just a dream, and it made more sense, considering this was just the story of a kid dealing with the loss of his parents. Haven't seen the sequels yest
My favorite of the series is the first Phantasm. Mike constantly following his cool older brother around with teleporting-like quickness. Impromptu jam with Reggie on the front porch. No emotion from the palm reader's blonde grand daughter. Amazing theme.
>The funeral is about to begin... SIR.
2 was probably my least favorite since they replaced Mike with some new guy, but still had some positive sides. 3 was a bit better, and 4 was the best of those three. 4 explored into the backstory of Jeb Morningside and I loved it for that. I wish it went a bit more indepth, though.
Ravager was a pretty awful movie, but if you're a Phantasm fan there's fun to be had in watching it.

I'll have to check the sequels out eventually. Do they drop the surreal, nightmarish quality, or does it get zanier as it continues

They're still surreal, but they don't match 1 in that aspect. There's a bit more action and exploring places. Shooting dwarves with a quad-barrel shotgun is pretty zany.

Sounds fun, do they retcon the first's ending like they did with NOES or?
>>83753396
They don't go back and erase what happens, but they twist it into more surreal shit. Ravager has the most of those "What the fuck is going on?" moments.
