Why are star wars fanboys so latched on to the franchise? Like I have a friend who is a typical star wars fag. The only pop culture he seems capable of discussing is star wars, the music, the movies, the toys, the cartoons. Anything else and he either stone faces or tries to turn the direction to star wars. There are literally hundreds of better movies, but it's the core of him. And when he tries to draw or write anything it's just emulating star wars. Even when he tries to do something "different" it ends up being a derivative.

It's all boiling down to greed and profits. They're churning out shit just to cash in as much as they can and squeeze every last bit of "nerd" money they can.
That also impacts the quality of the main product. Instead of focusing all resources they have on that, they spread them thin. Story/script almost always takes a hit because they don't take the time time to let it simmer and rethink some decisions that might seem exciting at first but lands them in a corner eventually.
