Wow Disney was way different back then.
Oogie-Boogie's song

I can't, Hellfire is perfect.
>>83735476
Why are whites better at everything?
>>83735476
>the canticle that plays at the back is one of admission of guilt
>as he proclaims it's not his fault
Frolo is a kino-tier villain, flawless execution of the struggle against desire and blaming others.
Schwartz did this music, right? His music usually mixes pretty intelligent messages in
>>83736205
i forget did belle have any good songs?
>>83735476
>realizes his urges are sinful; rationalizes it as a spell being cast on him for which she must be destroyed
>or she can hook up with him, y'know, just, whatever
such internal consistency
>>83736384
>implying the layering of the mea culpa with his justifying "the devil so much stronger than a man" isn't literally the definition of kino
The issue is he can't rationalize the temptation, and as such pushes out anything to justify himself. Whether it's sex, not his fault, a spell, whatever. It's genius

?
>>83736602
I'm not going to look but if there is a single other cover of this song anywhere on the planet, even one sung by a drunken retarded hobo, I am going to say it is better than whatever the fuck this is.
>>83735476
i would but its banned on all boards but one
>>83736713
Were you going to post Chrysalis or Starlight Glimmer?
>>83736457
He rationalized it just fine, though. He says that he (thinks he) is too pure to fall to temptation. Thus his temptation is because of a spell; the devil; some otherworldly means that a mere man cannot resist, of which Esmeralda is the source. The solution to this problem is to - as he also says - destroy her. He has constructed a model of the world that both allow him to lust for her and for her to be to blame for it and evil because of it.
But then he goes... oh but if she accepts my advances she isn't evil anymore. That's where it stops making sense. His goal should just be destroy her, full stop. Maybe TRY to rape her and have her violently reject him but that all being a moment of human weakness because of her satan-powered evil etc. (for which he would be mostly blameless; in fact, it demonstrated his strength that he was able to kill her after raping her instead of keeping her around for more rape!). Instead she suddenly stops being evil and empowered by the devil as soon as she accepts him? That's pretty inconsistent with everything else he's saying. I SUPPOSE he could say that, oh, if she accepts him then actually she wasn't sent by the devil to mislead him but by god to reward him, but he doesn't say that. Then again, that might make for a somewhat convoluted song.
>>83736724
this day aria
>>83736741
>But then he goes... oh but if she accepts my advances she isn't evil anymore.
Because he believed he could force her to recant her Gypsy ways and make her accept God as he has.
>>83736758
A very good Disney style villain song. I personally prefer Our Town because it's much more subversive and insidious.

It's Ralph Bakshi's orcs chanting as they approach Helm's Deep. The search also brings up a curiosity from one of the Rankin-Bass versions ie a song entitled "Where There's A Whip There's A Way" from when Frodo and Sammy are stumbling along in Mordor.
>>83735476
One of the most admired Javerts from Les Miserables is an Australian guy called Philip Quast. Certainly he's a better singer than another Australian Javert well known to /tv/.
Hellfire is the best song in that movie. It's really the only song that is dark enough to match the source material, and it was almost cut from the film
>>83736512
Top tier villain, I always liked how unrepenting she was and how she tried to sabotage Ariel on the land in disguise.

I'm sorry, can you rephrase the question?
Friends on the Other Side is my second favorite Disney villain song with this being first and Be Prepared being third.
ARE YOU REAAADY?

>all that rotoscoping
Why even bother animating it? That combined with the dark red and the shading makes this look like a vision of Hellas it should

Pharaoh is in the wrong here. He knew the terms and still chose the suffering of his people over the liberation of the Hebrews.
>>83742386
>Pharaoh is in the wrong here
He's not alone in that, though.
>>83742386
God is still a villain for punishing innocent people for the stubbornness of Pharaoh.
>>83742419
That was the bargon. It's not like it was an impulsive decision on God's part (God is never changing). The plagues were just an effect of the Pharaoh's stubbornness.
>>83742493
Pharaoh enslaved innocent people
>>83742737
>Pharaoh enslaved innocent people
And God punished them. I'm not saying Pharaoh was a good guy, I'm saying that both he and God are equally villains.
>>83740249
This, I loved Princess and the Frog.
But I am also from N'awlins so it just held a special place in my heart.
>>83742283
Cats Don't Dance was such an underrated movie.
>>83742493
Punishing Pharaoh and the Egyptian elite wouldn't have done anything. If Pharaoh would have died by the hand of God, the Egyptian elite could have swayed it in a way that Pharaoh has domain in his afterlife. Showing Pharaoh lose his domain on earth (Egypt) would have had more of an impact on Egyptian
society.
Remember, the Pharaoh's priests could also pull magic tricks and spin it in a way that made the Egyptian gods greater than YHWH. The plagues were a sign of the Egyptian gods' insignificance compared to YHWH.
