it's not horror

It's a watch-it-once-and-forget-it-forever movie. It will keep your attention the whole run time, but that is about all that can be said about it.

Pretty much this. It's bad, watch it with snacks and forget about it the next day.

There's a lot of fluff typical of a run-of-the-mill Hollywood script. In fact, most of the movie is boring as fuck - aided by the alien being both total CGI and transforming repeatedly, conversely affecting the viewer's sense of disbelief.
The movie had potential to be a lot better. They should have condensed the plot significantly, done away with stupid astronauts, and had intelligent precautions that the alien barely manages to outsmarts; instead of the morons that talk like holier than thou atheist redditors, and the most dimwitted "firewalls" that even a chimp could get past. The last third or so would of the flick would then be the alien conquering Earth as the astronauts are forced to spectate.
