Yes. I believe the reasoning is that the "liberty" being referred to is different, even though both parties call themselves liberal. Business liberty and individual liberty or something like that.

That's it. That is the gosh darn straw that broke the frankly patient camel's back. You choose to come in here, a place where we have poured hours of our lives into watching, analysing, and theorising about one of the, if not THE greatest science fiction fantasy drama world history has ever known. Were it not for the relatively small size of our island nation and its population, Doctor Who would be a world phenomenon that would astound the viewing masses with its intelligence and brilliance. I don't exaggerate when I say it's probable that, were the show to be aired in China it would bring the nation to its knees. And yet, in spite of all that, you choose to come in here, in the midst of our dialogue, and spout your HATEFUL, INCORRECT AND SLANDEROUS WORDS LIKE IT'S NO BIG DEAL! Well guess what mist: it IS a big deal. Bigger than you'll ever know. I can't begin to describe how furious I am at your comments; I was prepared to let them slide the first few times, but this has gone on far too long. You're going to know punishment like you've never known before. I know who you are buddy; my uncle is a high-ranking moderator on this site, and my dad has connections with the police. We're coming for you, and it ain't gonna be pretty. I'll set upon you with instruments you'll wish you'd never see again. Know what a sonic screwdriver is? You'll wish you didn't by the time I'm finished with you. You just sealed your own grave; the only thing you can do for yourself now is run. Run, and pray to whatever Gods are out there that I'll extend some mercy upon you. This is it kid. The worst ordeal of your life, and it begins now.

The worst part is, the new design would be fine if they kept the same size proportions of the old daleks (ie not having the weird hunchback) while still having the same redesigned appearance of the different parts

I remember being on GB when they first appeared, and someone said "yes well Daleks should be immense and tall - they should just blast through doors and smash through roofs." kek

Also, there's a video on the official site of Moffat in 2012 / 2013 going "shorter Daleks are always the creepiest." Oops xD

The Time Lords have always had a policy of nonintervention; only handful actually travel around. Obviously that policy got thrown out the window in the Time War, but maybe they're settling back into their old ways. definitely not, with the exception of the shitty deus-ex-machina resolution and Jesus/Superman Doctor it was a great 3-parter, while Journey's End retconned the most emotional nu-who finale (Rose's and Doctor's separation), created another Doctor out of thin air, featured Impossible Return Of The Daleks #1972312837 and was a general clusterfuck (with the exception of Davros, who was GOAT).

>>
>>83707319
Because no matter how awful the writing was, it was a crossover between Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures, and the emotional climax has the entire cast cheering and hugging each other. You can't get that level of comfy from a Moffat era crossover, because they would have the Class cast show up.

That's something the show has lost generally, the sense of fun. Moffat is so determined to make the series dark and gritty because The Doctor is suuuuuuch a super cool badass you guys and it's taken half the enjoyment out of it.

I hope one of the first things Chibnall does is tell the writers to fucking lighten up. I hope one of the second things he does is bin all dark filter lenses from the directors' arsenals. I want bright, vibrant, beautiful, colourful adventures, not various hues of dark blue and beige.

>>
>>83707736
Actual spoilers:

The Doctor regenerates at the end of 'The Doctor Falls' after being stabbed by Missy before blowing up a 400 mile long spaceship, but when he does the TARDIS falls into a black hole, which causes a huge time distortion, which temporarily reverts the regeneration and causes the first Doctor to appear in the TARDIS. 12 is in a state of 'phasing' in and out of his 12th and 13th face, its hard to explain. Tennant integrated with its matrices so he was the one receiving all the psychic energy. He's integrated into matrices, and in the same time he's a timelord and clever and stuff, so he was able to use psychic energy of people (which was multiplied by satellites) to fly and use Jesus powers.
>>
>>83708214
You have a fair point. RTD could've just bungled in a nod about 'the psychic link has attuned with my regenerative energy to restore me' or some shit and gotten away with that bit better.

(I'd love to see the script. Cos I've always thought the tinkerbell effects and floaty Doctor were a last minute decision to make the moment more epic, when the script probably just said "the Doctor is de-aged, and goes to hold the cowering Master".)

Aside from the fact the show is just miserable to look at due to being so dingy, the constant efforts to make the Doctor supadupa badddass make the show more uncomfortable.

I'm not saying I sit there squirming, but do we really need to be repeatedly told that the Doctor has killed countless people and is super scary to even the biggest evils? I don't mind if Cybermen or Daleks go "Oh, fuck it, it's the cunting Doctor!!" because they've never been able to beat him and he's the one thing that stands in their way. When some random alien of the week shits their britches because the Doctor furrows his brows and tells them he's older than spacefarts and killed like fifty planets, it takes all the fun out of it.

I dunno, man, I just want the Doctor to be fannying around in space and history, righting wrongs but generally having a laugh with his companions. It doesn't help that he's been SO FUCKING MEANSPIRITED under Moffatt. Smith as well as Capaldi. That's just not the Doctor. Never cruel nor cowardly...
