>Pirates V are critical failure while also under performing
>King Arthur an absolute flop and critical hated
>Alien covenant a critical success but has yet to make a profit
>Baywatch is full JUST tier
>The Mummy is critically savaged and is predicted to have a terrible opening
>Transformers will be trashed but make a profit thanks to the Chinese hivemind
>Same will happen to Cars 3 but plebs at home will make the money for it
>The Emoji movie will tank

Meanwhile

>GOTG2 is a critical success and is a financial success
>Wonder Woman is a critical darling with a great opening and is making more money in weekday sales than GOTG2 indicating a big drop off will not happen.
>Spider-Man will be loved by critics and make over a billion

>yfw Capeshit is the only safe bet Hollywood has left

I hope War for the Planet of the Apes does well and Despicable Me 3 could fail with critics.
>>
>>83690479
Are those Ape movies even popular? I never see them being discussed here, and I don't imagine anyone clamoring for them in real life.
>>
>>83690479
I hope Driver Baby will be good.
>>
>>83690479
Good. Hollywood needs to be razed and then rebuilt
>>
>>83690523

They aren't mega popular but the last one made over 700mil worldwide
>>
>>83690643
Are they still related to the one Mark Wahlberg was in?
>>
>everything unoriginal has a 50/50 chance of being shit
>everything original is pretty much guaranteed to be shit, 1/100 chance it isn't
Pretty bad state of things. Safest thing for audiences is to just stick to sequels and franchise titles they can trust, even the stuff that's subpar is still at least watchable most of the time.
>>
>>83690479
gee didnt know we had a someone who could see the fucking future on /tv/. mind telling me when im going to lose my virginity buddy?
>>
>>83690563
Is it supposed to be satire? Because it looks terrible, like it's mocking the genre.
>>
>>83690479
For now yes that is the case, but the capeshit genre will burn itself out after it climaxes with Infinity War and whatever DC Justice League shit comes out.
>>
>>83690749
>mind telling me when im going to lose my virginity buddy?
Anon, I...

I think it is supposed to be semi serious but also has enough self awareness to make fun of itself. Kinda like Hot Fuzz which is a proper movie but jokes with audience by making fun of the buddy cop genre throughout the film. I think Baby Driver will be similar, make sense but also make fun of films like Drive etc.
>>
>>83690851

>230 to make
>Never mind marketing
>Has only made $121,027,726 Domestically. Less than fucking Wonder Woman
>Used to be a Billion dollar franchise

Yes, it is
>>
>>83690851
It bombed in the States, and they were probably hoping for something like 800 million total including over seas. won't get even close to that.
>>

They are Reddit. You are a chan-tard. Do not try to watch it.

How?
>>
>>83691919
Accept your fate. The introspection & self-criticism of the Ape films is not for 4tards.
>>
>>83692187
Well I'm the original guy you responded to. but for a franchise that has a large number of movie spanning several decades, i'm surprised there is not a fanbase here.

All those "flops" you posted were pure fucking shit though. They deserve their fate.

You are right about the original franchise. Think of the racist undertones and creepy memes to keep /pol-klan/ busy for years .

Fucking why?

I haven't been to a cinema since The Force Awakens, and I don't plan to go back any time soon.

Give me a good reason to go see something in the cinema, because I'm not seeing a good case for it.

Common arguments
>it's a big screen!
I could buy a 55" television off of craigslist for $100 if I had the desire for a gigantic television in my living room. As it stands I have a 1080p projector I get out from time to time that throws a 100" image that is quite impressive and fills the field of view nicely, roughly equivalent to sitting in the center of a cinema.
>It looks better!
Most of the time this is a no. My last few cinema experiences were blurry, dim messes. Even if the film is presented in 4k cinema HD (and not all of them are) the projection is flawed and the actual detail is worse than seeing the same thing on your home set-up.
>surround sound!
I have a superior system.
>it's social
what's social about sitting in a dark room and saying nothing to each other?
>>
>>83692608
>I haven't been to a cinema since The Force Awakens,
Why did you give the mouse money for that steaming pile of shit?

Do critics ever give good reviews to kids movies? Isn't there a huge "it's animated so it's shit who cares" stigma?

Where were you /tv/ when you realized the movie market is completely monopolized and controlled allowing only the approved to be considered successful or good, soulless and shallow in nature chasing what are profitable investments, leaving all discussion about their substance and 'artistic' direction meaningless.

>Pirates V are critical failure while also under performing
Yeah, no. It doesn't match it crazy successful prequels but it performs just fine.
>>
>>83693807

not making as much as your prequels is under performing
>>
>>83694231
Not, really, it's about the internal expectations of the studio. I doubt they expected to rank in another billion after a six years break in times when the market is flooded by capeshit and sci fi cancer. As long as it does better than CotBP there will probably be a sequel.
>>
>>83694431
If that is the case then what is disney doing to prevent capeshit interest stagnation?
>>
>>83694431
>As long as it does better than CotBP

That movie came out 14 years ago anon. If you adjust it for inflation it made $447,736,200. If this doesn't make as much as Stranger Tides it's probably fucked
>>
>>83692608
Only reason to enjoy a movie in a cinema is the superior sound, but if yours rivals or exceeds it, I see no reason for you to go there.
>>
>>83690479
>this list
>literally not a single original idea

Does creative bankruptcy come with political correctness or is global warming to blame?
>>
>>83690523

Those apes movies are surprising not shit compared to most big budget crap Hollywood serves up these days.

Not saying much I know, but they're solid films.
>>
>>83690479
>The Emoji movie will tank
No it wont,I have like 6 people im going to see it with.
