Sure, if it a Shakespeare adaptation or something you might want a different actor. But Ciarán Hinds goes beast mode in this.

If anything, I'd kill for a well-written big-budget production about the crisis of the 3rd Century when the Empire was split amongst 3 rival factions.

Or hell why not a season from the perspective of the Parthians/Sassanids? They were Rome's civilized counterpart in the East and their empire is pretty badass yet misunderstood in the West.

Then, again, let's be frank. The average American doesn't want good acting or developed scripts like Rome. They want to be entertained with shitty memes. And any historical adaptation that depicts nothing but Caucasians is toxic to SJWs today.

Half right, but it's the other way around. It was broadcast on HBO first, then the BBC 2 months later, then an Italian station after that. All 3 had co-produced it, yet HBO/BBC decided not to include the Italian channel on the co-produced screen at the start of the show. This triggered the Italians, and they dropped it.

The BBC then said they didn't want to do a 3rd season because of costs and low viewers, and HBO didn't want to front it themselves also because of low viewers, so everyone dropped it.

The main issue with The March of the 10,000 is that they ultimately failed in their goal of deposing Ataxerxes II, and putting Cyrus on the throne. Modern television and movies don't like telling stories where the protagonists don't win. In spite of that, I'd love to see a well done adaptation with a solid director and budget, it's a great story
