I always like to read threads about how some people love Tokyo Story
But I can't stand the movie itself

Washed out Sans Soleil.
This movie however I can quite understand and even enjoy

I mean this remake

its basically tokyo story for the "5 seconds attention span" generation

B-but I do only have short attention span...
I have to browse /tv/ while I watch the original or I would turn it off

the origins of "i've just marathoning the first 5 minutes of _________. when does it get good?" threads
I do get that there are many small details in the movie, and that it's about the family relationship
But it feels cold and preachy.
the remake on the other hand feels more emotional and relatable. Its issues and resolution are more relatable to modern life.

Take that son Shoji for example. In the original he died in war. In the remake he was just underachieving. I think that feels more relatable.

But I don't see anyone marathon Tokyo Story
Why was Wim Wendes so sad about Japan? It looked fine
