>tfw ywn work in a local blockbuster store
>>83659884
very intelligent frogposter
>>83659884
My friend did and got free rentals of new releases which him and I used to watch.
>>83659884
this was all I wanted to do when I was a kid. The guys at the store seemed so cool. Now my local videostores are; a verizon store, a batteries plus, and a clothes store
>>83659884
It was overrated tbqh familia
>>83659884
buddy use to work at 'video square' and would give us 2 free games for every rental (either movie or game) and would let us go into the adult section.
of course we'd wait till his shift was over so we could party the weekend.
I did literally worse job.
fast internet was a mistake
>>83660012
>>83659959
why was it bad?
>>83659884
It's a perfect time for the ma & pa video stores to come back. We need our Friday night back dammit.

Move to one of these places
>>83659884
It was a good job.
>>83660012
>not using the job just to rip porn dvds
>not working at hollywood video or video time
>>83659884
I gotchu senpai

Don't be stupid, fast internet is a blessing. Think of all the brilliant things the internet has done for us!
The social obligation to create and monitor a series of social media pages to appear socially normal to a peer group that far extends beyond the people you actually know or like, the decentralisation of counter cultural movements leading to internet echochambers and slacktivism, the insanely quick and cancerous spread of false information only furthered by the complete destruction of the paradigm of reliable news media and the third estate leaving us in a period of uncertainty in increasingly politically tense times - these are all blessings. The internet is great, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

>tfw I deleted my facebook account about a year after it blew up
Dodged a bullet there.
>>83660038
Obscenely expensive. Before they knew they were going under they would charge 5 bucks for a new release and it was due before 9 pm the next day
>>83660154
>tfw never used facebook, twitter, myspace, or reddit
>tfw a literal ghost on the Web
Feels damn good
>>83660225
>literal
Stop using that word when you don't mean it
>>83660181
That doesn't explain why it was a bad job though.
>>83660225
Probably in real life too.
>>83660343
AYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Job was okay but it taught me to never work in the service industry again. Fuck the bosses and fuck the coworkers (except male coworkers) and actually fuck the customers too.
I lived in a small area where a lot of people knew each other. People would come up to me and ask me for movie recommendations and I had to figure out what they were into because I knew people were tards. Once (I swear to god) some bitch came up to me and asked me to read up what the back of the cover said because she couldn't read English.

If she's a foreigner i don't see an issue with this
>>83659884
I worked at one, used to fuck with the test/fake accounts.
>>83660458
>>83660553
Yeah to be honest that sounds like such a non-issue and the fact that you see to not only be angry about it what I can only assume is years later and bring it up like it's a big thing says a lot more about you than anything else
>>83660559
I did this at my independent store all the time. We had like a notes section that would pop up with their account screen, we'd have snarky comments about customers sometimes in addition to using it for its actual purpose (late fees, coupons, etc.)
This one wasn't me, but best one I can think of off the top of my head was we had this guy who always wore an eyepatch--probably had a condition or something, who knows. Anyway, somebody typed in "this man is an actual pirate" into his comment box. Some months pass, he's finally done with the eyepatch, and one of our employees who hadn't seen him with the patch says "Soooo, says here you're a pirate?"
I've rarely cringed so hard.
>>83660687
Samefag, still reminiscing about this--I think the best comment I ever left myself was making up this ludicrous backstory for some hipstery guy eho had "Sir" at the front of his legal name. All about how he got knighted for his valor at such-and-such.
>>83659884
after 10 of being an empty building they finally turned my local blockbuster into a petshop. rip.
>>83660687
We had a guy..... well. I always, always forgot what he looked like, catch me off guard every single time. He'd hand over his card *bloop* comes up on the screen
>LUCAS, GEORGE
>*oh god don't say anything, don't laugh*
>notes section flashing
>Chewie has rented
>Han has rented
>Vader has rented
>Jabba has rented
>*DO NOT LAUGH*
>"here's your movies sir....."

Better than a gym, liquor store or mattress store
>>83660749
>mfw knowing this now & thinking back to all the porn I returned outside of business hours to avoid scrutiny on my parent's account
>>83660845
>Better than a gym, liquor store or mattress store
the one in the next suburb over turned into a gym.
>>83660225
No not really. If you don't have a Facebook you're going to lose job opportunities and people will think you're a creeper a bigger one than you are.
>>83661556
Facebook is already a liability, kardashians just don't realize it yet.
