NIICE, nice. Mid-70s.

I really like The Truman Show because I had that damn idea as a little kid and I felt like they stole it. But 1994 was truly Carrey's Annum Mirabilis, I was just thinking about that just the other day.

Tom Hanks is an industry poobah but did he really have a "period mirabilis" like the above? I think I can identify it. He was in some bullshit in the 80s but then he got consecutive best actor oscars with Philadelphia and Forrest Gump(? correct if I'm wrong), and then went on to Apollo 13 and Toy Story. The confluence of these mid-90s projects for Hanks solidified him as an everyman both for relevance to boomers who had that cultural memory, and to children of the computer era.
