Any theories on the blinking box?

The guys meant to assassinate Dougie call their boss and tell her they fucked up and his car is still around. She calls a number on her phone and we cut to the box ringing, then blinking after she presses 2.

We see the same box, with an establishing shot of Argentina, blinking and suddenly turning into a black slab of rock after Booper makes his prison phone call ("the cow jumped over the moon").

I don't have any solid theories but I think it has something to do with the Jeffries he is in cahoots with.

My friend says it's because in S01 Lynch had to act somewhat normie and that gave that Fargo-atmosphere, but now it's just pure Lynch (which it is) and it's not in his nature to be comfy.
I think he may have a point, Lynch's movies aren't usually comfy except Blue Velvet maybe (and The Straight Story but that doesn't count)

The Dougie scenes are comfy as fuck and perfectly fit in with the original show's humor.

The Twin Peaks scenes are weird. So far, Ben, Jerry, Jacoby, James, and Nadine have popped up in random interludes between Cooper's story and they don't seem to currently have any sort of actual story arc going yet.

Hawk is obviously relevant to Cooper, and it looks like Shelly's daughter is going to be wrapped in plastic soon so there's that.

I think it's interesting that Lynch is withholding from using jazzy Badalamenti tracks in Twin Peaks. IIRC the only time we got that was Bobby seeing a picture of Laura Palmer. The lack of music is probably what kills the comfiness for comfyfags more than anything.

yeah the cgi this season is hit or miss. it worked with the glass box scenes, but everytime I see that silver mustangs casino sign i want to barf.
