The summer's first major crash.

Who knew turning a mummy movie into hyper-generic action was a bad thing?!
>>
>>83611248
Does King Arthur count as a summer flop?

>ywn see The Mammy where Cruise faces off against a vengeful Hattie McDaniel
>>
>>83611134
Even if it busts in the US a Tom Cruise action movie will be a international success no matter what.
>>
Why the fuck is it set in modern times?

Also it'll flop looks shit and is directed by Kurtzman

Wasn't Dracula Untold supposed to kick this crap off
>>
>>83611134
>Cruise
>Flopping

I don't think you realise how much international audiences love him.

If not a single American went to see that movie, it'd still make a profit internationally.

Drac Untold ended in modern times.
>>
>>83611134
First preview looked pretty good. Now, three new trailers later, it looks like standard booga-booga horror complete with near-dancing style gesticulation of evil from teh-powerful-gurl-monter.

Might be the first Cruise flick I skip in 15 years.

most likely it just break even. Cruise running very fast is automatically kino
>>

Can't bruise the Cruise.
>>
>moderate to disappointing opening weekend in the US
>just barely makes its budget back worldwide
>foolishly Universal decides to keep making monster universe movies
>the next two movies flop
>monster universe cancelled
>3 years later they try again

when will studios realize they can't all capture the same "cinematic universe" success of the Marvel and DC?
>>
>>83611757
This shot would probly be better if the corpses on the stakes were moving.
>>
>>83611134
As an avid fraserhead I will not be seeing this blasphemous creation.
>>
>>83611642
>>83611757
It's a shame drac untold isn't part of their universe. It should've been.

Also, I think Mummy will be fun.
>>
>>83611134
I hope not. I kinda wanna see what the DUCU will look like.
>>
>>83612015
from the studios perspective a cinematic universe is a good thing since its basically a series of movies that you can tie loosely and create a following for the people. if the first one is good like in Ironman 1, people will tend to see the next one in the series
>>
>>83612015
It's Cruise cinematic universe m8.
>>
>>83611134
is the two pupils thing supposed to be a reference to mythology or is it just some stupid meme shit
>>
>>83611134
Too bad the movie isn't about Cruise fucking the mummy.
>>
>>83611134
Casting the girl from Star Trek Beyond as the titular villain in this movie was a weird decision. She is perfect for quirky sidekick roles, but she doesn't have the gravity to play a convincing villain.
>>
>>83611400
Edge of Tomorrow?

The Fraser Curse?
>>
>>83612581

It actually is

She wants to fuck him and turn him into a mummy
>>
>>83612783
Not a flop and a bonafide cult classic?
>>
>>83611134
I think the worst thing about it is that the mummy just isn't scary. I'd totally fuck it, undead and all. Girl mummies don't work because they're too sexy. Plus, she has a semi-nude scene? How am I going to take her seriously when I'd WANT to be her slave.
>>
>>83612207

>he wants ANOTHER cinematic universe

you are cancer
>>
>>83611757
Damn, the live action adaption of Hellsing is looking good.

Sadly, I have a MASSIVE thing for Egyptian girls so I'll be watching this.
>>
>>83612015
The thing is that cinematic universes are very alluring to studios because they are the solution to the sequel dilemma: audiences are more likely to see a movie if they already saw one before (compare John Wick 1/2 box office). However, sequels can become tiresome if overdone and often degrade in quality due to the inherent need to link them together. Cinematic universes solve this by making the series just connected enough that it can be thought of by consumers as a distinct "thing" (thereby gaining a following, much like a sequel would) yet is not tied down like a true sequel. So you have more freedom to make the stories you want and can make better (in theory) films and are insured against your series being ruined by a single actor getting tired of it, because ideally a cinematic universe is an ensemble cast that doesn't have a single "star".
>>
>>83612978
I don't think that's a girl anon
>>
>>83612983
>two highest grossing movies are one-offs
ok
>>
Negatives:
>No comic relief
>tom cruise
>pg13 Horror
>shoehorning le Dr. Jeckel in
>russel crowe as a bad guy

Positives:
>idiots like tom cruise
>idiots like special effects

In the end its probably going to blow horse dick, but it might sell well internationally.
>>
It's going to gross millions of dollars, but it'll probably get a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes.
>>

How does he keep getting work?
>>
>>83613140
>having that shitstain taste.

No breden?
>>
>>83613249
Whats so shitstain about it?

The comedic relief part was just because of the other mummy movies being so campy and fun, while this one looks like it wont be.

>>

Why do people here like perpetuating this meme? I know people outside of here like saying every movie of his is gonna flop because muh Scientology but it never happens. Like the last Reacher was one of the worst Cruise movies I've watched in the last 20 years and it didn't flop.
>>
>>83613401
The original Mummy movies weren't campy.

It'd better end with Tom fucking the Mummy.
>>
it will do okay.
>>
>>83613621
They literally are. The brendan films MADE the mummy.

The original was such utter trash it might as well have been slapstick
>>
>>83613689
Yeah we get it,you are a retarded kid that dont know shit, thanks for the laughs dumbfuck
>>
Don't worry, Asians love Tommy Cruise.
>>
Mediocre domestic opening, but will do gangbusters everywhere else solely because of Cruise, at least for a week or two
This might be alleviated by the movie being good, but right now it looks thoroughly drab and forgettable
>>
>>83613689
Only for the modern audience. Imhotep (1932) and Kharis were the face of Mummy for many years.

2 words: Alex. Kurtzmann.
>>
I love Tom, I just dont see what the fuck is the appeal in a Mummy movie. Frasers movie managed to be good by mixing action/comedy. I cant see how this one will be good, even with all of Toms crazy stunts.
