Holy shit, /pol/ really did rot everyone's brains here. The Coming to America segment wasn't about how Americans hate Mexican immigrants and that by murdering them they are being hypocritical or some shit. It's about each god being made up of the beliefs of their believers. Jesus has been portrayed as territorial and vindictive in the bible and certain Americans take that to be their sort of Jesus.

I read the book a couple of week before the show aired. It was on my reading list for a while and I don't read a whole lot, so I figured I'd read it before the show airs, since I was planning on watching it anyways.
The book was good, nothing great, but a nice premise and some good twists towards the end.
The show fucked it up so bad. Every change has been for the worst.
They dumbed down everything and made any criticism of America the book had(which were subtle and not the point of the book) so blunt, so obvious and so in your face to the point of retardation.
The last two episodes were hard to get through. A whole episode dedicated to the wife? Who thought that was a good idea? But the latest one was the worst. Everything from the intro with Jesus(who was barely discussed in the book at all, only mentioned in passing) and the "social commentary" on immigration, the introduction of Vulcan(FIRE IS POWER, POWER IS FIREPOWER, what terrible fucking writing) with more """social commentary""", all the way to minor things like bringing back the salesman/taxi driver(I hate how they keep bringing back minor characters).
I don't have much hope for future episodes. I don't see how they could do the Lakeside part of the story justice now that they've set up the show to be this trash heap of edgy social commentary, pointless violence and "something cool and extreme has to happen or the ADHD audience will get bored".
