I wonder how many feet scenes are in films specifically for footfags that I just don't notice.

Rey progresses in a way we can see on-screen and the character grows, plus, she at least feels organic to the new Star Wars trilogy. Jyn is the real "mary sue" because we never see her progress, we're just told she's great. We watch Cassian watch in awe as Jyn beats up Stormtroopers with a stick off-screen. He's clearly a veteran who's been fighting for decades, Jyn had only recently joined, why is Jyn so much more effective?

You never saw Luke train as an x-wing pilot either. Unless there is a canonical explanation, it's easy to presume that in Star Wars land, spaceships are like cars.

We don't know how powerful either of them are because neither of them have finished training. It's worth keeping in mind that Kylo Ren was also injured by Chewie already. I don't fucking care how badass you are, if you take the equivalent of a grenade launcher shot straight under your ribs and survive, you'll be considerably shittier at fighting. Even then, Rey was running away like a bitch half the fight.

I'm bored of these severely autistic arguments about how TFA was trash and R1 was kino. TFA played it safe, but let's not pretend that the film is so much better produced than just about every Star Wars movie besides Empire. R1's script was awful, especially the fucking lava castle that made no sense and pretty much all of Jyn's dialogue. R1 was saved by the secondary characters.
