>>
>>83605826
I really loved the first JW.
I also enjoyed the second movie, amazing atmosphere and fantastic scenarios but the "battles" are too repetitive.
In JW1 you see a different move or technic every time he faces a group of enemies, this really marked me because I used to rewind to watch the scene again. But in JW2 you see the same 3 or 4 moves repeated 2 or 3 times.
>>
>>83607423
People were a bit too relaxed on the whole. Looking back at it, it was strange that the band didn't stop playing the music once Wick shot someone right in front of everyone on the stage. (But it would perhaps have ruined the atmosphere with the music gone.)

Another thing was how bulletproof Wick and some of the other characters were. It's okay to have some sort of in-universe explanation as to why they don't just immediately die, but he took a bit too many hits, and especially that stance where he sort of holds up the side of his jacket to use it as cover just looked odd.

Didn't ruin the movie or anything, just felt a bit out-of-place side-by-side to the first one.
>>
>>83606929
theres no krav maga from john wick tho. The fight choreographer himself has mostly trained under Dan Inosanto; learning many arts, but for the most part jeet kune do is the logic he applies to it

I liked how they did such a good job of making Cassian seem like John's equal. John had been built up so high so I would have thought introducing someone who could go toe to toe with him would be hard to believe, but the long one on one all the way back to the Italian continental was really fun and established him as a threat

I (mostly sarcastically) said that if he has a move that always works, and he almost never leaves survivors, why wouldn't he use it every fight? Nobody's alive to catch on and counter.

i generally agree anon but for me, Cassian never felt like an *equal* to John. Not from training, but from experience - opposite Keanu playing John weathered and clearly aged by the job. Experience winning out over skill and energy in the end.

His fucking Italian is inexcusable tho
>>
>>83609477

I thought the implied world building in JW1 was much better than the explicit world building in JW2. JW1 felt still somewhat connected to the real world, JW2 felt like the world was a hyperstylized comicbook universe.

The dead simple story was a huge part of the draw for JW1. The story in JW2 was more convoluted and relied on internal lore to work.

The CGI bloodspatters in JW2 were distracting as hell. I don't know if they were in JW1 (been a while since I watched) as well, but they were less noticeable at least.

Still, JW2 is at least an 8/10 because of Keanu's slick moves and the continuation of artistically lit and framed scenes.

The flick makes sure it fucking flies out. If you just hit eject, the mag might get stuck from a bit of friction and not fall free on it's own. It would just take the lightest of tugs to make it fall free, but you lose the momentum. Keanu is an IRL competitive shooter, and what he is doing is very common.

She was bleeding out in front of Wick when he casually takes the pistol from her back holster, checks it for ammo, and then soldiers on to finish the job.

But, I'm sure she'd feel REAL bad later on if she just waited for him at the exit and shot him in the face.

Yes.

All John had to do was walk away. That's the point.

Firsts weakness was simplistic story (although self-aware) with great action and characters

Never mind, I found the info.
>Wick’s notable stats include a total of 128 confirmed kills with 10 different weapons, firing 302 shots with an accuracy rating of 80.1%. As usual, John aims for the head, registering 104 total headshots, meaning 34% of the times he pulled the trigger resulted in a headshot, and his headshot to kill ratio was 81%, but some deaths included more than one headshot, so he’s just throwing his curve at that point.

> Looking back at it, it was strange that the band didn't stop playing the music once Wick shot someone right in front of everyone on the stage. (But it would perhaps have ruined the atmosphere with the music gone.)

You missed part of the point of the scene. If you listen, when John comes from behind, jumps on the stage between the guitarist and keyboardist on their platforms during a build and shoots the guard who jumps on the stage from the front, you can hear the audience cheer in response. It's almost certainly a reference to how there have been several notable live shows in which a musician, comedian or other performer dies on stage and the audience cheers and laughs and claps along thinking it's part of the show for minutes until they realize what happened and panic breaks out. I'd bet money that it was written that way very much on purpose.

JW 1 set the tone and is a simple yet fun origin movie: 8/10
JW 2 continues with the story with a new quest and opened the universe even further, which gave us a cliffhanger for a sequel. It was pretty good, but then again, it didn't tie any loose ends (killing the dude and starting a hunt is not tying loose ends). So JW 2 gets 7/10 instead.

I hate cliffhangers in movies... I wish JW 2 would've just ended with him shooting the dickhead at the hotel and the camera turns to Odin with him saying something like "you dun fked up John," and credits.

First was good, second was bad.
>>
>>83628533

I liked the story of the first more but the action of the second better.
>>

First one is fantastic but a little slow.

Second one has a garbage first half that's almost unwatchable but becomes 11/10 in the second half.

Also my god the trailers for the second one are the most misleading thing in the universe, they made the movie look like Keanu vs Fishburne in Russia, this is about the literal opposite of what the movie is.

Why? because she has short hair?
Her face doesn't look even remotely masculine.

Why not just use the same hand twice? Not very operator to do pointless showoff tricks for nobody.

I agree with this. The first movie was fantastic and for as good as the action scenes were in the second, it's ultimately just a re-tread.

Plus the main villain was great in the first and shit in the second.

The director said that the police is kinda on it because the assassins only kill each other and/or other criminals so is better for everyone to stay on it.

Street Kings, never seen it, poor ratings though.

You mean High Table vs John Wick?

Because the only way JW weasels out of the contract is if he kills anyone offering the contract.

That's dumb. While you're wasting time flicking the mag away from you you could easily just reach for the fresh mag and press the mag release and put the fresh one in.

9mm for sure is at decibels that can cause damage over time regardless. 22 last I checked is borderline. Why risk it? You only live once and there are no do overs.

How is that expression even remotely applicable here.
Try not to pad your shit with pointless platitudes.
