Anon, what's your opinion on The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People.
To me these two were good. I thought Matt was superb and the main concept is just amazing. I also liked bits of horror in this, and pretty heartbreaking Doctor-ganger death. I didn't find it boring as well, it's surely slow, but I thought it was good kind of slow.

People now either hate it or find it forgettable.

Funny how things turn out

Neural network anon again. This time I fed it every single DW episode and about 30 Big Finish plays, all inside a 24MB text file. About half is Classic Who, 25% is NuWho and 25% is Big Finish.

But even though it took 18 hours, the high loss values and frequent grammar mistakes suggest that I need to run it again, for longer, with more nodes. Soon, I will create the ultimate Doctor Who script. And then I will send it anonymously to Big Finish.

So I watched At the Earth's Core, one of the movies Gatiss cites Empress of Mars as being like. To briefly summarize the plot: Under the Earth's mantle there's a jungle where primitive humans live in fear of giant, hypnotizing monsters. Two scientists from the surface (the more sciencey one is stereotypically British and played by Peter Cushing) arrive, get captured and escape a lot, figure out the secret of the monsters' power, and help unite the human tribes to overthrow them.

Well, I can see why Gatiss likes it. If you've seen much Classic Who, it probably brings to mind a lot of stories, including The Face of Evil, which aired only four months later, and a lot of the movie feels very much like contemporary Doctor Who, except it's more action focused and has a higher budget. Not surprising as Edgar Rice Burroughs is part of a genre that was influencing Doctor Who from very early on. But what I'm getting from this is that "an Edgar Rice Burroughs kind of story" just means that a story that's heavily nostalgic for Classic Who will also be nostalgic for things that are similar to Classic Who. I guess the main idea that seems to be carried over from this and presumably Journey to the Center of the Earth is putting Victorians in a strange place with monsters, but again, that's typical Doctor Who type stuff. And it's not like the episode will actually feel like Classic Who or At the Earth's Core; I'm sure it'll have the same tone and pacing as most of this season.

1. If any of the last stories we get are GOAT/KINO/really quite good, will it redeem the mediocrity/shitfest of series 10? How good will they have to be to call series 10 a success for you? From what I've seen Heaven Sent isn't enough to make up for the rest of series 9 for /who/, but we have several episodes ahead of us.

2. Chances of World Enough (maybe even Doctor Falls if it sticks the landing (pun unintended)) being better than Heaven Sent? There's strength in having a larger cast and a potentially more exciting atmosphere/story.

3. What do you want before Capaldo regenerates? I personally feel like we've been lacking in TARDIS scenes for Twelve, as well as a surpluss of rushed/quick scenes, so all I honestly want is one last quiet scene of Twelve in his TARDIS, lots of lingering shots and sentimentalism. His whole era has felt a little hollow, a little rushed, definitely a little disappointing, and it would be really nice to have Twelve grounded and real for a little bit, and get a chance to look back on his time and have that satisfaction. Kind of like Ten's goodbye tour at the end wrapped up RTD's whole run, but much smaller scale. I know I'm rambling but it's just something I see in my head and I really really want to write the idea down because I know there's a great chance we won't get something like this, but Capaldi really deserves it. Anyways, what are you hoping for?
