Couple of things:

I can deal with this dude not liking Pacific Rim. I'm an ardent fan and even I have to admit it had its flaws. What I can't abide is this guy DEFENDING MISS FUCKING PEREGRINE. How in the unholy hell can you honestly and without any irony defend that formulaic, ugly-as-hell waste of an intriguing premise?

Brings me to my next point, this guy seems like one of those Save The Cat types, people who think that rules for screenwriting are set in stone and use that as basis for criticism of movies. A perfectly fine standpoint, I'm not attacking it by any means (it gets scripts sold, right?) but it does detract from a movie like this, where shit is clearly meant to be allegorical but he takes it as hard-and-fast fact.

That there is my biggest issue with this review, as beyond my disagreement with it I actually laughed my ass off (dude is a shitposter extraordinaire). RLM (go fuck yourself) actually brought up the whole allegory thing in their review, with Mike saying that he took the movie as more of a "folk tale" than anything. It's a movie with something to say, and while your opinion on how it said it may vary, it's the kind of movie that'll be remembered as the years go by because it actually said something.

I am gonna check out more of these videos though, nigga's funny as hell.

Sorry to ruin it for you, but Pacific Rim is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. At one point, I thought it was being an subtle ironic masterpiece, but no, it just followed the most basic structure there ever was and the visuals were not good enough to make it more interesting.

He's right, the race baiting was definitely not the only thing wrong about the movie. In fact the movie didn't need the racial aspect at all to work, and by adding it Peele's writing became heavy handed. Also, the video is so long because he walks through the entire movie scene by scene. Despite the "old 4chan" humor attempts, it's not a bad analysis.

You should watch it sometime, HD streams are easily found on google. I watched it at work and while I don't regret watching it (if only because it allows me to actually partake in these conversations) it definitely is not "great". If not for the racial aspect of the movie, again unneeded to basic plot of the movie, it would have been a pretty forgettable thriller movie that wouldn't be talked about today.
The best thing about this movie is it's a great directorial debut, and since we already know Peele will be making more movies, it's nice to know they will likely be at least watchable as well.
