After watching Westworld and with all the anticipation for Red Dead Redemption 2, I'm planning to watch A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I've always liked the Western setting, as a non-American it has always felt exotic, mysterious and romantic. Which are the greatest Western films/which ones should I watch?
fuck that, what did you think of Westworld?

I have 3 episodes left to watch, so no spoilers pls. I just found out aboutBernard, it was a nice twist, I liked it. I rarely come to TV, so I don't know the board's opinion of it. Did people here like it?

the trilogy is A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?
Dollars trilogy is pure kino. Probably the peak of Westerns. You can also watch Unforgiven which is kind of the finale of Clint's western era (Think of it as his equivalent of "Logan", though not the same character as Dollars) . Not as good as the trilogy but still good.
After that, Once Upon A Time In The West, High Plains Drifter and maybe a modern western or two like Slow West, True Grit or Hateful Eight.

All good ones,
Outlaw Josey Wales has some of the most bad ass quotes in all of westerns.

All stories are westerns. Best westerns are ones NOT set in the frontier "western" setting.
>Lawrence of Arabia
For example.

Lawrence of Arabia is not a western film in any sense of the word other than being in a hot setting.

the outlaw josey wales is basically red dead redemption

Kurosawa's samurai movies would be better example of non-western westerns
Then again, most of them were remade into western later anyway
The Searchers
Go watch Yojimbo and Seven Samurai while you're at it

John Ford is required viewing and his best is the searchers
The Searchers and the original True Grit are pure kino. Hondo, Pale Rider, The Wild Bunch, El Dorado, They Died with Their Boots on, and Shane are also all excellent
Unforgiven
my recomendations are (besides the dollar trilogy and Once upon a time in the west) Face to Face, The Great Silence, Le resa dei conti
