I'm sure you've seen it already since it's one of the best films of the 10's so far, but The Rover.
If you're looking for something similar in theme/tone there was a french film I can't recall the name of, a singer whose truck breaks down in the middle of nowhere and the locals make him a slave and fight over him.

Such a haunting film, with so many great lines.

Wake In Fright is a masterpiece by any criteria I can think of. The kangaroo scene is the pinnacle of horror on film.
