Only on episode 5 so far, but this scene in particular really bothers me.

They went through this whole decline in the number of times Frank addresses the audience as he got busier and busier, but now they've changed how these moments worked and opened the episode with him giving up as a guided tour of the Washington monument with his dialogue?

When has he ever talked to us without it being within a setting, like a meeting, or his couch at home? This is just absurd, it usually followed the idea that he had a moment to talk, not jumping and cutting all over the place like a documentary.

How it should have gone.

S1: Frank takes the Vice Presidency
S2: Frank takes the Presidency
S3: Election
S4: Skips ahead several years to the end of Frank's term, schemes to repeal the 22nd amendment, allowing him to stay in office as president.
S5: Frank has almost complete control of America, thanks to backroom deals, bribes, and blackmail, has been able to get all sorts of powers no other president has had. Is about to complete a 4th term as president, and is popular enough to run again, thanks to America Works program. But, like the title of the show implies, eventually it all comes crashing down around him. Gives a 10 minute, 4th wall breaking speech in court about power, money, the American people, human nature, etc. Last shot is Frank being lead into a prison cell.

Nah, just have it focus on the first year of his actual presidency. A forward skip of that magnitude invalidates the first 3 seasons completely. The point is that when the house of cards collapses, it's because one of them on the bottom gives out. A mistake or a crime in the first season or two leads to his eventual downfall (such as his murder of Zoe) should be what brings him down, not some original thing that comes up in the last season or so.

The way you've written it, it's still an unnecessary dragging out. You can just cut out the first 3 seasons and have a 2-season series on an extremely popular president who gets too power-hungry instead.
