It felt like an argument against having longer stories, while I was hoping that it would focus on the strenghths that such an extra space to developp the story would offer.
If Gatiss's episode is fun and the rest is solid, it'll be a good season, that really suffered from the fact that its shittiest story takes up a fourth of it.

At least it was 4/10 abd and not 2/10 awful.

When 2005 Who aired, it was the first time I'd ever watched it, and I was pretty young at the time so I didn't have a brilliant grasp on what was going on. So, I've never been particularly nostalgic for Series 1 and most of my Who memories have been based on the Tennant years.

So, I just rewatched Eccleston Who and fuck me, it was actually really fucking good. Dalek, Bad Wolf and Parting of the Ways were straight fucking kino. Seriously. I was weary about the idea from the beginning but the fact that Bill didn't know what regeneration was was the final straw. There was literally no reason for him to fake regenerate, he could have just collapsed and it would have made zero difference in the scene.
It would have actually been better because the fake regeneration necessitated a conversation we didn't get, which was Bill saying "what the fuck was that fire shooting out of your hands and face"

I also imagined Missy agreeing to save the Doctor but only if they let her out of the vault for a little bit. Which would have led into the whole "Missy being on the cast list for The Empress of Mars" thing. I'm not mad about that though, it'll happen later on

As much as I enjoy bill, her sacrificing her self to undo the monks contract would have been much more satisfying. Especially if we still had the doctor vainly attempt to still carry out his alternative plain despite no logical hope of it working. The better solution also to have Moffats STATUS QUO return is make it a plot point that if the contract breaks, it creates a paradox and resets everything meaning it technically never "happened". That's better at least than people just randomly forgetting they were slaves for six months.

Then we can have the remaining 4 episodes of series 10 be GOAT Nardole and Doctor solo adventures.
