I've had a sad week. Let's have a thread about sad movies or scenes that always get to you.

This is such a good movie. I need to read the fucking book. The story is too good. I know the book has to be better than the movie (which is already good). I'm just afraid that in book form it might actually crush my soul.

I used to identify with the main character when I was super depressed. It's a good analogy. I felt like I was a conduit for sadness and that I took it from everyone around me. Anyway I don't think like that anymore but I still hold this movie close to me since then.
>>
>>83542330
It's a relatively short and easy read so you should do it. The movie is remarkably close to the book and doesn't leave very much out at all. I'd rank it as possibly the best book to movie adaptation out there.
>>
>>83541157
Until I fixed my relationship with my dad this was me. That fucking scene with the pinwheel in inception is brutal
>>
>>83541106
bit of trivia, during JCs breakdown scene, its all focused on him, hanks didn't even need to be their, but he was he sat opposite him and played the part even though the camera never once goes to Hanks, he was helping out MCD, basically if you were a new actor Hanks is probably the best person you could possibly work with
>>
When I was little this movie crushed my fucking soul. I think I only watched it like twice. Mufasa's death in Lion King, of course...
>>
>>83542420

Some times Disney can be a real dick.

>Now Woody, he's been my pal for as long as I can remember. He's brave, like a cowboy should be. And kind, and smart. But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

he's a great actor he really is possibly the GOAT, also i'm watching green mile again, thanks for reminding me OP its been too long
>>
>You on uppers, Ma?
>You on uppers?

For me, this is the saddest scene in the movie. Everything else is people ruining their own lives. Actually, I'm glad the Mom didn't have to see what happened to her son. He will always know. While he rots in prison, missing his arm, he will also agonize every moment knowing his mother is in need of help, so far away from him.

To be fair, he was pretty young then. I'll never forget watching Inception in theaters. When Mal jumps from the building, Leo's reaction is what made it real. Big Fish. Old man dying of cancer. Estranged Son comes home to say goodbye, trying to put together his father's mysterious past that he thought he had always been lied to about. The movie is him coming to terms with his father and himself. It's beautiful, and the movie employs many fantastic elements for a great story-book feel. But it's also very real, as in sad.

They are robots, the descendants of robots like David. That's the reason they are so interested in him, because he is the only one who has ever had direct contact with their "creator".

The scene in spiderman 2 where Aunt May gets upset because Peter doesn't want to take the 20 bucks she gives him for his birthday is so sad, but brief.

>here you go, kiddo. Happy birthday
>I can't take this money-
>YES YOU CAN. You can take this money from me! FOR GOD'S SAKE IT'S NOT MUCH, NOW TAKE IT! And don't you dare leave it here...

Something that always bothered me about this film.
How did Matt Damon know what happened on Normandy if he was never there. If he just heard about it later then it makes the opening scene a little less impactful to know that it's just what he thought happened.

It's "conservative propaganda" because the entire plot of the movie is 'Even if you are born with a disadvantage you can achieve anything you want if you work hard enough"
>>
>>83543765
The first 2 spiderman movies had really good drama. 2 also had that scene where Peter tells Aunt May the truth about what he was doing that night Ben died.

>Uncle Ben was killed that night for being the only one who did the right thing.
