I have problems with the term "post-irony" because depending on the way you look at it, you could argue that the whole of Twin Peaks, the original run of the show, was completely post-ironic: making fun of the soap opera genre while at the same time using it as a powerful device to tell its very dark and serious story.

This happens with everything though. The people who love it rate it immediately, then other ratings come in that aren't perfect scores, though still some perfects, then the people reacting to the 10s come in and give it 0s to try and offset the score. This happens with anything decent which is why most movies end up with 6s or 7s. I'm sure the same 9 people (whoever they are that actually saw it, they could just be people rating off of hype) gave the first 4 episodes 10s too.

I think his season 3 scenes sort of make sense in a weird way, because all of his past scenes always had this soothing and tranquil nature to them, they'd often have Hawaiian music playing, and he'd be doing something relatively mundane.

This time, there is sort of that similar tranquil nature to it, almost feels like a self insert for Lynch, working on random projects in his free time, left to be alone.

the soap inspired/parody elements are still there, but it's morphed to fit current era "soap opera/comedy" shows like modern family (with scenes like Dougie's family life). also the season has just started and is still recovering from where the story was left off, i could very easily imagine this aspect growing as the season goes on. it's still following the same story with a similar tone and has a lot of the same appeal (yes, not precisely the same appeal, but it's been 25 years, it's as close as you could expect)
